Eletriptan Hbr is used to treat migraine headaches. It helps relieve headaches and other migraine symptoms including nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. Prompt treatment helps you return to a normal life and may reduce the need for other pain medications.

Eletriptan Hbr belongs to a group of medicines called triptans. It affects a natural substance in the body called serotonin, which narrows blood vessels in the brain. It may also relieve pain by affecting certain nerves in the brain. Eletriptan does not work to prevent future migraines or reduce how often you get migraines.

Take Eletriptan Hbr by mouth on an empty or full stomach as directed by your doctor at the first sign of a migraine. The dose of Eletriptan Hbr is calculated based on your medical condition and response to treatment. If your symptoms do not improve after you use Eletriptan Hbr, do not take an extra dose of this medicine before talking to your doctor. If your migraine symptoms are only partially relieved, or if your headache comes back, you can take another dose two hours after the first dose. If you are at higher risk for heart problems, your doctor may perform a heart test before you start taking eletriptan. Your doctor may also direct you to take your first dose of Eletriptan Hbr in a clinic or hospital to monitor for serious side effects. If you are using Eletriptan Hbr for migraine relief for 10 or more days per month, the medicine can actually make your headache worse called a drug abuse headache. Do not use Eletriptan Hbr more often or for longer than directed. Tell your doctor if you need to use Eletriptan Hbr more often or if it is not working as well or if your headache gets worse. Certain foods, beverages, or food additives (such as red wine, cheese, chocolate, MSG, as well as lifestyles such as irregular eating habits, sleep patterns, or stress) Avoiding these triggers can help ease migraine attacks.

While using Eletriptan Hbr medicine, you may feel nausea, tingling or numbness, weakness, fatigue, drowsiness or dizziness. If any of these effects persist or get worse, tell your doctor right away.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed Eletriptan Hbr because they have judged that the benefits to you outweigh the risk of side effects. Many people use Eletriptan Hbr without any serious side effects.
Eletriptan Hbr can increase your blood pressure so you need to check your blood pressure often and let your doctor know if it is too high.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects of Eletriptan Hbr, including: Blue fingers/toes/nails, cold hands/feet.
Eletriptan can often cause chest/jaw/neck pain, which is usually not serious. Before using Eletriptan Hbr, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of:

Avoid taking certain medicines that can affect the removal of eletriptan from your body within 72 hours of taking it. Such drugs include cobicistat, nefazodone, ribociclib, azole antifungals such as ketoconazole/itraconazole, macrolide antibiotics such as clarithromycin/erythromycin, certain hepatitis C virus protease inhibitors such as boceprevir/telaprevir, HIV protease inhibitors like nelfinavir/rito.
If you are also taking any other ergotamine medicines such as dihydroergotamine or other "triptan" medicines such as sumatriptan, rizatriptan, separate your doses of eletriptan at least 24 hours from the doses of these medicines to reduce your risk experience serious side effects.
