1. What are the uses of Xerese?

Xerese is a topical cream with 2 active ingredients: Acyclovir and Hydrocortisone. Acyclovir is an antiviral drug that helps stop the growth of the virus. Meanwhile, Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation, itching, and burning pain. Xerese is used to treat herpes, sores caused by the herpes simplex virus. The medicine speeds up the healing of sores, helps the wound heal faster, but does not prevent the infection from spreading to others, nor does it prevent the return of herpes.
Xerese is intended for use by adults and children 6 years of age and older. Only apply Xerese to cold sores and sores on the lips and around the mouth. Do not use this medicine to treat lesions caused by the herpes simplex virus of the eyes or genitals.

2. How to use Xerese

Xerese is used at the first sign of herpes. Before applying the medicine, it is necessary to wash your hands with soap. Clean and dry the affected skin area. Apply a thin layer of Xerese to the affected area, usually 5 times daily (once every 3-4 hours) for 5 days. Apply a sufficient amount of cream to cover all damaged skin. Do not wear makeup, apply sunscreen, lip balm, ... or use a bandage to cover the skin after applying the medicine. To prevent Xerese from drifting, do not bathe or swim for 30 minutes after applying.
Do not apply Xerese to the eyes, nose, inside the mouth, or on the genitals.
Herpes, sores caused by the herpes simplex virus are very contagious. Xerese cream does not help prevent the spread of these cold sores. Therefore, avoid sharing eating utensils, razors, towels with sick people during the virus outbreak. Wash your hands with soap if you touch the sores.
Need to apply Xerese medicine regularly for the drug to work best. Tell your doctor if after 2 weeks of taking the medicine your condition does not improve.

3. Xerese side effects

Common side effects when using Xerese are dry lips, chapped lips, burning, redness, peeling of the application area. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if the above symptoms are severe or persist.
Xerese is relatively safe, most people using it do not experience significant side effects. However, you need to be wary of a serious allergic reaction to the drug, as it is very rare but can be life-threatening. 4. Precautions when using Xerese

5. Other notes when taking Xerese

To prevent interactions between Xerese and concomitant medications, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking.
Do not share Xerese with other topical medications because it can spread infection.
Body fatigue due to insufficient sleep, colds, flu, ... will create conditions for herpes simplex virus outbreak causing herpes and sores. To prevent this risk, eat enough, get enough sleep, keep your mind happy and comfortable.
If you forget to apply a dose of Xerese, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the usual time. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
