Difficulty defecating after anal abdominoplasty is abnormal?

Question
Hello doctor,
I just cut the excess skin on my anus 12 days ago, in the morning, I have symptoms of lower abdominal pain, go to the toilet 2 times 1 hour apart to stop the stool. The anus is painful, the first time the stool is dry and hard, you have to push hard, the second time it's softer, you don't need to push much. The doctor asked me, is it abnormal to have a hard time passing stools after anal surgery?

Answered by Master, Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Thang - Gastroenterologist - Department of General Surgery, Vinmec Danang International General Hospital.
Hello,
With the question "Is it difficult to pass stool after anal surgery?", the doctor would like to answer as follows:
After surgery to remove excess skin, the edge of the anus is right at the position. Cut excess skin with open scars. Characteristically, scars in the anal area are not sutured to avoid infection but leave the skin open and take care of the wound to heal itself, so when you have a bowel movement with constipation (as described), the wound is still young (only 12 days) stretch and crack, causing bleeding with burning pain. You should see your surgeon again for a checkup and specific treatment advice.
If you still have questions about difficulty passing stools after anal surgery, you can go to the hospital of Vinmec Health System for further examination and advice. Thank you for trusting and sending questions to Vinmec. Wishing you lots of health.
Best regards!
