Pharyngitis due to gastroesophageal reflux, cure for gastroesophageal reflux, do you need to treat pharyngitis?

Question
Hello doctor, I am suffering from a sore throat caused by acid reflux. May I ask if I need to treat a sore throat after the reflux is finished? I heard that after treating the reflux, the sore throat will go away on its own, but now my throat is hurt, if I don't heal the wound, will I get a sore throat? Are there any drugs currently available in western medicine that can heal the lining of the throat? Hope the doctor can help you with the problem of pharyngitis caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease, do you need treatment for pharyngitis to cure gastric reflux? I would like to thank you.

Hello. Pharyngitis has many causes, including gastroesophageal reflux. When I have just had gastroesophageal reflux and pharyngitis, if the reflux treatment is successful but the sore throat goes away on its own, I do not need to treat the sore throat.
However, as you said above, you have treated gastric reflux but your sore throat still does not decrease, your doctor advises you to see an ENT specialist to get a diagnosis as well as best treatment. You can go to the hospital of Vinmec Health System to be examined by qualified doctors. We look forward to seeing you soon to discuss more about your current health status.
Thank you for the question "Sore throat caused by gastroesophageal reflux, does it need to be treated for pharyngitis?" yours sent to Vinmec. Wishing you good health always.
