What medicine should a person with gastroesophageal reflux disease take?

Ask
Hello doctor. I want to ask the doctor about the medicine for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. I burp a lot and my chest is uncomfortable especially late at night and when I wake up. When I wake up, I also have chest pain. I went to the doctor and the doctor said my lungs were normal, I took stomach medicine but it didn't help much. Doctor give me advice and prescription for gastroesophageal reflux? I hope the doctor will answer me. Thank you.

Hello. I did not say clearly if I have had a gastroscopy and what kind of stomach medicine I am taking. Reflux pathology is divided into many levels and recurs depending on the severity. Patients should limit fried foods or drink alcohol and smoke. There are many types of reflux medication on the market such as Gaviscon taking 3 packs a day, morning and evening, after eating - this is a fairly benign drug and can be bought without a prescription.
Other classes of drugs such as PPIs, or concomitant symptomatic medications. In my case, I should go to the doctor for advice and monitoring. You can register for an examination at a hospital under the Vinmec health system nationwide.
Thank you for sending your question to Vinmec Health System.
