Is it possible to have a long-term allergic reaction of unknown cause?
Ask
Hello pharmacist! 4 weeks ago I had an allergic skin reaction of unknown cause. I temporarily use Cetirizine, after 5 days still have an itchy rash. Pharmacist let me ask if there are any side effects of Cetirizine? Is it possible to have a cure for a long-term allergic reaction of unknown cause? Ask your pharmacist for advice. Thank you sincerely!

Cetirizine is an antihistamine that helps treat allergic symptoms such as runny nose, itchy nose in allergic rhinitis, itching, urticaria, redness, allergic conjunctivitis ...
The drug is generally safe but may experience some side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, dry lips... You can read the leaflet of the drug to learn more.
However, this is only a symptomatic treatment, not a root cause, so if you have a prolonged allergic reaction of unknown cause, you have been using it for a while and still have symptoms, you should see a doctor at the clinic. Reputable Health Department or one of Vinmec Health System's hospitals to determine the specific cause and prescribe appropriate medication. Wish you health.
Thank you for trusting and sending questions to Vinmec. Best regards!
