The main active ingredient of BETADINE® 1% mouthwash and mouthwash is Povidone iodine. This is an iodine-binding compound polymerization product, capable of releasing free iodine, which has the effect of killing bacteria, viruses, fungi, spores, yeasts and protozoa.

1.When to use mouthwash, BETADINE® 1% mouthwash

The drug is used to treat inflammatory and bacterial infections in the mouth and throat such as pharyngitis, mouth ulcers, gingivitis, candida infection, and helps relieve symptoms when having flu. The drug may be indicated in ENT surgery and dental procedures to prevent infection.

2.Dosage – How to use

Use 20-30ml of the solution undiluted or dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:2 (1 part BETADINE® 1%, 2 parts water). One bottle cap is equivalent to about 15 ml:
Prophylaxis: Gargle for at least 30 seconds. Can be used 4 times a day Treatment: Gargle mouth and throat for 2 minutes. Take 4 times a day, after meals Normally, the time to use BETADINE® 1% (unless otherwise directed by your doctor) is about 14 days. Prolonged use should not be taken without consulting a doctor, especially if symptoms do not improve or worsen.

3.Side effects to note

Drugs used to gargle and gargle, have a local effect, very little systemic absorption. Therefore, there are usually few side effects. However, skin sensitization reactions may occur on contact including itching, redness, minor blistering etc...
In the event of a systemic allergic reaction (usually very rare) ) including hypotension, shortness of breath, need to immediately go to the nearest medical facility for timely emergency treatment.

4. Precautions and notes when using

BETADINE® 1% mouthwash and mouthwash is for local use only, not for oral use. If you feel local irritation or allergic symptoms, stop using the drug immediately.
The drug is not for use in children under 6 years of age. The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children to avoid the risk of taking the wrong medicine.
Drugs should be avoided in patients receiving radioactive iodine treatment, patients with thyroid diseases. Use with caution in pregnant patients
