Why do men have pharynx?

The pharynx in men begins to change as they enter puberty. At this point, the larynx tends to increase in size, along with a protruding structure on the front surface of the thyroid cartilage surrounding the larynx called the pharynx.
In Greek mythology, the pharynx is also known as "Adam's apple". The story goes that in the Garden of Eden, Adam ate a forbidden fruit, while eating it quickly got stuck in his throat, from which the throat protruded a lump like an apple, that is the pharynx.

Males have a pharynx because during puberty, the larynx in males grows stronger than in females, creating an anterior protrusion known as the pharynx. The size of the pharynx in men tends to become larger in adulthood as the larynx continues to grow.
The vocal folds inside the larynx are also lengthened and thickened with enlargement of the larynx. This causes when producing sound, the frequency of vibration of the folds is less, making the male voice sound deeper.
