The doctor asked me: I just gave birth to a baby 1 month ago, bright red blood appeared. I gave birth by cesarean section and exclusively breastfed my baby. Can I ask if this is a period or a preterm period? If it's premature, how long will it take to get my period back? Thanks you.

Dear! Normally, after 3-4 weeks of giving birth, a woman will have a preterm period and after the postpartum period, after 6 weeks, a woman will have her period again. If a woman is exclusively breastfeeding, the period of amenorrhea can be extended up to 6 months. The case you describe is likely premenstrual. If it doesn't last long, it's not a big deal and if you're exclusively breastfeeding, it's likely to take up to 6 months to get your period back.
