Does echo in fetal heart affect fetal health?

Question
Hello doctor,
When I was 17 weeks pregnant, the doctor told me that my baby's heart ventricle had 2.6mm thick echo. So far I am 28 weeks pregnant, this nodule is 2.5mm. Doctor let me ask, does echo in the fetal heart affect the health of the fetus? Thank you doctor!

Answered by Master, Doctor Dao Kim Phuong - Cardiologist and echocardiogram - Department of Examination, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital.
Hello,
To the question "Does echo in fetal heart affect fetal health?", the doctor would like to answer as follows:
Echocardiographic nodule in fetal heart decreased from 2.6mm to 2.5mm at gestational week. 28 is likely due to measurement error and proves nodules do not increase in size. Echocardiography in the heart does not affect the health of the fetus. Statistically, thickened echocardiographic nodules can occur in 3-4% of normal fetuses. If the nodule alone is not accompanied by other malformations, there is little specific pathology. You can have antenatal care by appointment and continue to monitor your baby's development.
If you still have questions about echoes in the fetal heart, you can go to the hospital of Vinmec Health System for further examination and advice. Thank you for trusting and sending questions to Vinmec. Wishing you lots of health.
Best regards!
