Answer
Hello,
To the question “Is it dangerous to have hemolytic alpha 3.7 heterozygosity during pregnancy?” , the doctor would like to answer as follows:
Your husband needs to be consulted and ordered to be tested by a hematology geneticist to determine the risk of carrying the gene. If your husband has a low-risk alpha thalassemia gene mutation, your baby will also have a low risk of alpha thalassemia. The rate of mothers passing on mutations with alpha 3.7 deletion to their children is 50% and in the form of healthy carriers, there is no harm to health.
If you still have questions about heterozygous alpha 3.7 hemolysis during pregnancy, you can go to a hospital under Vinmec Health System for further examination and advice. Thank you for trusting and sending questions to Vinmec. Wishing you lots of health.
Best regards!
