Ferahame: Uses, indications and cautions when using


Feraheme (Ferumoxytol) is used to treat iron deficiency that leads to anemia (iron deficiency anemia). Ferumoxytol is an injectable form of iron if you can't take oral iron because of side effects or an ineffective response to treatment.

1. How to use the Ferahame vial


Ferumoxytol is also used by people with anemia due to kidney disease for a long time. Iron is an important part of red blood cells and is needed to transport oxygen throughout the body. Many people with kidney disease cannot get enough iron from food and need injections. People with kidney disease may also need extra iron because of blood loss during dialysis treatment.
Consult the information on the product packaging before you start using ferumoxytol and each time you get a refill.
The medicine is given slowly into a vein over at least 15 minutes, usually in a clinic or hospital. Treat with ferumoxytol, spaced between each dose 3 to 8 days apart. Ferahame can be used during dialysis.
Ferahem dosage is determined based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Your doctor will do blood tests to monitor your response to treatment.

2. Side effects


Dizziness or fainting (hypotension) may occur after Ferahem injection. You may also have pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site. If any of these effects persist or get worse, tell your doctor right away.
To reduce the risk of dizziness or fainting, get up slowly when getting up from a sitting or lying position.
Tell your doctor right away if any of these undesirable side effects occur: Unusual bruising, darkening of the skin (bronze tone), swelling of the hands/feet/legs, chest pain.
If you notice any unusual symptoms after injecting Ferahime, contact your doctor immediately.

3. Precautionary measures


Before using ferumoxytol, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it; or if you have had a reaction to other types of injectable iron; or if you have any other allergies.
Before using Ferahem, tell your doctor about your medical history.
Ferahame can make you dizzy. This condition will get worse if you drink alcohol or marijuana. Alcohol should not be consumed while taking Ferahame.
During use and for 3 months after the last injection, tell the radiologist that you are using or have ever used this medicine. This medicine may affect the results of an MRI scan.
Before surgery, your doctor needs to know all about the products you are taking, including over-the-counter, prescription and herbal medicines.
Older adults may experience more severe allergic reactions or dizziness while using this medicine.
During pregnancy, Ferahime should only be used when necessary and under the direction of a doctor.

4. Interaction


The interaction between Ferahime and certain other drugs may affect how the drug works or increase the risk of serious side effects. Without your doctor's approval, do not arbitrarily add doses, change or stop medications suddenly.
Some products that may interact with ferumoxytol include: other iron drugs.
If you pass out or have difficulty breathing after injecting this medicine, contact 911 immediately.
Medical tests (such as complete blood count, iron levels, blood pressure) should be performed. performed periodically to monitor your progress or side effects.
It is important that you eat a balanced diet to get enough iron , vitamins and minerals . Good sources of iron include meat (especially liver), eggs, raisins, figs, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, beans, lentils, and iron-fortified or fortified cereals. Follow the dietary recommendations appropriate to your health condition.
For the medicine to work effectively, it is important that you take it exactly as directed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, contact your doctor immediately to set up a new dosing schedule.
