Reguloid: Uses, indications and precautions when using

1. What is Reguloid?

Reguloid (also known as Psyllium Husk) is commonly prescribed to treat constipation. The principle of action of the drug is to retain water in the stool, making the stool softer, affecting the bowel movement and easier to pass.
Reguloid is also considered an osmotic laxative, which can be used in combination with certain diets to treat high cholesterol.
2. Dosage and Administration of Reguloid Reguloid is usually taken by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor. If you are self-treating, carefully read and follow all directions on the product packaging and ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
If you take Reguloid powder form, mix the required amount of powder with a full glass of water (240ml) or other liquid, stir well and drink immediately. If the mixture is too thick, you can adjust it by diluting it more. (Note: When taking the powder, care should be taken to avoid inhalation because in rare cases, Reguloid powder can cause an allergic reaction). Dosage will be based on the patient's medical condition and response to treatment. Do not increase your dose or take this medicine more often than prescribed. Reguloid may decrease the absorption of certain other medicines you are taking. Therefore, Reguloid should only be taken at least 2 hours apart from other drugs. It can take 1-3 days for Reguloid to start working and make you want to have a bowel movement. Take this medicine correctly and as prescribed for it to work its best. However, note that Reguloid should not be used continuously for more than 7 days (unless directed by a doctor). If your constipation persists or worsens, or if rectal bleeding occurs, tell your doctor right away.
