Uses, doses and notes of side effects of Tebonin

Tebonin is used to increase circulation, especially to small blood vessels, improving the supply of blood and oxygen as well as important energy substances to brain tissue. To ensure the effectiveness of treatment, patients need to strictly follow the instructions of the doctor or pharmacist.

1. Composition and uses of Tebonin

What is Tebonin? Ginkgo biloba leaf extract with high composition tebonin 120mg (EGb 761). The drug works to increase circulation, especially small blood vessels, improving the supply of blood and oxygen as well as important energy substances to brain tissue. In addition, the drug also increases concentration, enhances memory, balances mood, increases tolerance to stress.
Tebonin drugs are mainly indicated in the treatment of cerebral and peripheral circulatory disorders, specifically:
Acute and chronic cerebral circulatory failure, reduced attention and concentration, memory loss, dementia due to vascular sclerosis brain blood. Disorders of blood circulation and nerves in the ear: tinnitus, dizziness. Disorders of blood circulation and nerves in the eye: diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration. Disorders of peripheral blood circulation and nerves: peripheral arterial occlusive diseases, claudication, limb numbness.

2. What is the dose of Tebonin for adults and children?

The drug tebonin is taken orally, regardless of the meal. The patient should swallow the film-coated tablet (without chewing) with a little water. The specific dosage of tebonin for adults and children is as follows:
2.1. Adults (over 18 years old) For adults over 18 years old, take 1 tablet once, twice a day (120-240 mg/day high dried ginkgo biloba leaves. When using the drug at higher doses than recommended or long-term use. then patients need to consult a doctor.Duration of treatment depends on the severity of symptoms and should last at least 8 weeks in these chronic diseases
2.2 Children under 12 years old Children under 12 years of age should not take tebonin because there are not enough studies on this subject.

3. Common side effects when taking Tebonin

In general, Ginkgo is well tolerated, however there are some rare side effects such as: mild gastrointestinal upset, headache, allergic reaction (redness, swelling, itching).
In some isolated cases after long-term treatment with the finished product Ginkgo bleeding has been reported, but the relationship between symptoms and the drug has not been confirmed.

4. Notes when taking Tebonin in pregnant and lactating women

Results from experimental studies show no harm to the fetus, however, there are no adequate human studies. Ginkgo biloba extract has the ability to reduce platelet aggregation, bleeding tendency may be increased. The benefits and risks need to be weighed when used in pregnant women.
There are no data on whether Ginkgo biloba or its metabolites are excreted in human milk. Therefore, tebonin 120mg is not recommended for nursing women.

5. Some other notes when taking tebonin drugs

Tebonin 120mg drug is not used for patients with lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, galactose or glucose malabsorption syndrome because the excipients of tebonin contain lactose. In addition, people who are taking anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs together or have an increased risk of bleeding (intrinsic bleeding) should not use this medicine. In addition, people who are about to have surgery should stop taking Tebonin 3-4 days before surgery.
Subjects with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug and children under 12 years old are contraindicated to use tebonin. Currently, the symptoms of overdose are not well documented.
