With schizophrenia the recommended starting dose is 10 to 15mg per day, maintained at 15mg per day. This drug is effective in the dose range of 10 to 30mg. Note that the time of taking the drug should not be related to the meal. Manic episodes: Initiate at 15 mg once daily with or without food. Do not take more than 30mg of the drug per day. In the prevention of recurrent manic episodes in bipolar I disorder, the dose should be the same as previously used, and the dose adjustment will depend on the clinical setting of the patient. Children over 15 years:
Schizophrenia The recommended dose is 10mg once daily with or without food. However, for the first 2 days it is recommended to start with 2 mg daily (using another Aripiprazole preparation), then titrate to 5 mg daily for the next 2 days to reach a dose of 10 mg daily. When appropriate, the dose should be increased by 5 mg/day but not by more than 30 mg/day. This medicine should not be used in children under 15 years of age because there is not enough evidence of its safety.
In patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment and renal impairment no dose adjustment is required. In patients with severe hepatic impairment there are not enough data for the recommended dose.
When using the drug for people over 65 years of age should consider starting a lower dose if possible.
