2. What is the use of Benda 500?


The active ingredient Mebendazol in Benda 500 has a relatively broad spectrum anthelmintic effect. Benda 500 affects both the larval and adult stages of many types of worms that are commonly infected by patients such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, pinworms... Especially, Benda 500 also kills eggs. of whipworms and roundworms.
When using high doses of Benda 500 medicine, it can also have an effective effect on both Giardia Lumbia flagellates and some developmental stages in the life cycle of some species of flukes (cysts).
Mebendazol's anti-worm mechanism in Benda 500 is to degrade the tubular microstructure in the cytoplasm of parasites, and at the same time inhibit glucose absorption in the adult stage of parasitic worms in the small intestine. and their larvae in tissues, thereby reducing glycogen accumulation. The end result is a decrease in the ATP needed for the survival and growth of the worms, and of course they die. It should be noted that the metabolism of Mebendazol in the body does not affect the blood glucose concentration of the patient.
The treatment effectiveness of Benda 500 is quite high, up to 90-100% of cases of roundworm, whipworm, and pinworm infection, while the effectiveness for hookworm infection is only about 70% lower.

3. Indications, contraindications of Benda 500


Benda 500 is indicated for use in cases of infection with one or more types of intestinal worms, including Ascaris Lumbricoides (affects both egg, larval and adult worms), Capillaria Philippinensis, and worms. Hookworm Ancylostoma Duodenale or Necator Americanus, Trichuris Trichiura, Pinworm Enterobius Vermicularis (Benda 500 affects both egg, larval and adult stages).
On the other hand, contraindications of Benda 500:
Allergy/sensitivity to Mebendazol or any of the ingredients in Benda 500; Children under 2 years old; Pregnant women (especially in the first 3 months) or during lactation; People with a history of liver disease should not take Benda 500.

4. Instructions for using Benda 500


4.1. Dosage Depending on each case with the specific type of worm infection, the dose of Mebendazol will be different. Note that the dose for children over 2 years of age and adults is the same.
Pinworm infection: Take a single dose of 100mg Mebendazol, can repeat with the same dose after 2 weeks because patients infected with pinworms are easy to relapse; ​Infections with roundworms, whipworms, hookworms or multiple worms at the same time: Use Mebendazol dose of 100mg x 2 times daily, continuously for 3 days or can take a single dose of 1 Benda 500 tablet; Strongyloidiasis: Mebendazol dose 200mg x 2 times/day, continuously for 3 days; Capillaria philippinensis infection: 200mg x 2 times/day, taken continuously for 21 days; Cystic infection: 40 mg/kg body weight, once a day for 1-6 months. 4.2. How to use Benda 500 effectively Benda 500 is used orally, should be taken with high-fat food to increase absorption and bioavailability of Mebendazol; Patients can chew Benda 500 tablets directly, then swallow whole with plenty of water or crush and mix with food (used for children); Patients should repeat deworming after a certain time (usually 4-6 months); Albendazole is generally better tolerated than Mebendazole, so only when Albendazole is not available should Benda 500 be used.

5. Benda 500 . side effects


Patients using Benda 500 may experience some unwanted effects but usually very little rate:

6. Some cautions when using Benda 500

Note absolutely do not take a double dose of Benda 500 to avoid drug poisoning. The use of Benda 500 in children under 2 years of age has not been adequately studied, so it should not be indicated in this population. 7. Benda 500 . Drug Interactions


Concomitant use of Benda 500 with Cimetidine: Cimetidine inhibits Cytochrome P450 Enzyme, which is an enzyme that metabolizes Mebendazol and thereby increases Mebendazol plasma concentrations.
In contrast, when Benda 500 is used concurrently with Carbamazepine or Phenytoin, the plasma concentration of Mebendazol will decrease because Carbamazepine and Phenytoin induce cytochrome P450 metabolic enzymes.
