Capesto 40 is indicated for use in the following subjects:
Adolescents over 12 years old:

Prophylaxis of gastric ulcers in people at high risk of gastrointestinal complications, but who require continued treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: 20mg orally per day.
Treatment of Zollinger Ellison syndrome: The recommended starting dose is Esomeprazole 40mg twice daily. Then adjust according to the individual patient's response and continue treatment when clinically indicated.
Patients with impaired renal function : No dose adjustment is required in patients with impaired renal function. Due to little experience with the use of the drug in patients. Patients with impaired liver function: No dose reduction is required in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment. In patients with severe hepatic impairment, the maximum dose of 20 mg Esomeprazole should not be exceeded. Elderly: No dose adjustment is required in the elderly. Should not be used concurrently with nelfinavir, atazanavir.

Treatment with proton pump inhibitors may slightly increase the risk of gastrointestinal infections compared with Salmonella and Campylobacter. Co-administration of Esomeprazole with atazanavir is not recommended. If the combination of atazanavir with a proton pump inhibitor is unavoidable, close monitoring is required. Esomeprazole may decrease the absorption of vitamin B12. Therefore, consideration should be given to the use of the drug in patients with reduced vitamin B12 stores or risk factors for reduced vitamin B12 absorption during long-term therapy. Co-administration of Esomeprazole and clopidogrel is not recommended. Patients at risk for osteoporosis should be cared for according to current clinical guidelines and should receive an appropriate dose of vitamin D and calcium.
