Uses of Cardimax

Cardimax is a slow-release tablet, with the main ingredient being Trimetazidine dihydrochloride. It is used in the symptomatic treatment of patients with stable angina.

1. What are the effects of Cardimax?

1 Cardimax tablet contains 35mg of Trimetazidine dihydrochloride and other excipients. Trimetazidine is an anti-anginal and anti-ischemic drug that does not cause any hemodynamic changes, helping to improve myocardial ischemia. This drug works to treat angina through a direct cytoprotective action on the myocardium, avoiding side effects such as left ventricular insufficiency, excessive peripheral vasodilation, and other disadvantages.
Indications for use of Cardimax: Use in adults as an add-on or adjunct to existing treatment for symptomatic treatment in patients with inadequately controlled stable angina or in patients with stable angina. Patient is intolerant to other angina treatments.
Contraindications to using Cardimax:
Patients with hypersensitivity to active ingredients and excipients in drug formulations; Patients with Parkinson's disease, Parkinson's symptoms, restless legs syndrome, tremor and other movement disorders; Patients with severe renal impairment (with creatinine clearance less than 30ml/min).

2. How to use and dose Cardimax

Usage: Orally. Patients can take Cardimax with or without food. However, it is best for patients to take the drug with a full glass of water, take the tablet whole and with food to reduce stomach irritation.
Dosage:
Usual dose: 1 tablet/time x 2 times/day, taken with meals; Patients with moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance 30 - 60ml/min): Take 1 tablet in the morning, take with meals; Elderly patients: Elderly patients may have a higher than normal susceptibility to trimetazidine due to the risk of age-related decline in renal function. For patients with moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance 30-60ml/min), the dose is 1 tablet in the morning, with meals. Care should be taken when calculating the dose for elderly patients; Children: The safety and effectiveness of trimetazidine in children under 18 years of age is unknown. Overdose: In case of emergency or overdose when taking Cardimax, the patient should be taken to the emergency room immediately for timely treatment.
Missed dose: If you forget to take a dose of Cardimax, the patient should take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose, take your next dose at the time prescribed by your doctor, do not take a double dose.

3. Cardimax side effects

When using Cardimax, patients may experience some side effects such as:
Nervous system: Dizziness, headache, Parkinson's symptoms (tremor, increased muscle tone, slow and difficult movement), sleep disturbances, restless legs syndrome, unsteady gait, and other related movement disorders. Symptoms are usually reversible upon discontinuation of the drug; Heart: Palpitations, tachycardia, palpitations, extrasystoles; Pulse: Arterial hypotension, orthostatic hypotension, irritability, flushing, dizziness, falling,... These symptoms are common in patients being treated with antihypertensive drugs; Stomach - intestines: Abdominal pain, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting; Skin and subcutaneous tissue: pruritus, urticaria, angioedema, acute generalized pustular rash; Body as a whole: Asthenia; Blood and lymphatic system: Agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenic purpura, thrombocytopenia; Hepatobiliary: Hepatitis. When experiencing side effects of Cardimax, patients should immediately notify their doctor to receive advice on the most appropriate treatment.

4. Be careful when using Cardimax medicine

Some precautions for patients to remember before and while taking Cardimax:
Trimetazidine may cause or worsen Parkinson's symptoms (tremor, increased muscle tone, slow and difficult movement). Therefore, elderly patients need to be checked and monitored regularly. In case of doubt, the patient should be referred to a neurologist for appropriate examination; When taking Cardimax and experiencing movement disorders such as Parkinson's symptoms, unsteady gait, tremors, restless legs syndrome, ..., the patient should stop the drug immediately; Symptoms of Parkinson's syndrome are rare and reversible upon discontinuation of the drug. Most patients recover after about 4 months of stopping the drug. If symptoms persist after 4 months, a neurologist should be consulted; Cardimax patients may fall, low blood pressure, unsteady gait (especially in people who are taking antihypertensive drugs); Caution should be exercised when appointing Trimetazidin to patients with high sensitivity such as: Patients over 75 years old, people with moderate renal impairment; Avoid using trimetazidine during pregnancy, especially during the first 3 months of pregnancy (unless absolutely necessary). However, there have been no animal studies showing that this medicine can cause fetal harm; There is no information on whether trimetazidine is excreted in human milk. However, the mother should stop breastfeeding if she must take this medicine; Trimetazidine may cause dizziness and drowsiness, affecting the ability to drive and use machines. Therefore, drivers, operating machines should be cautious when using Cardimax.

5. Cardimax drug interactions

Cardimax may change the action of other medications you are taking or increase the effect of side effects. To avoid drug interactions, patients should make a list of all medications they are taking and show it to their doctor. At the same time, to ensure safety when using drugs, patients must not arbitrarily use the drug, stop or change the dose of the drug without the permission of the doctor.
Some of Cardimax's drug interactions include:
ACE® drugs increase blood pressure or cause cardiac arrest if used concurrently with Cardimax; There is a drug interaction between Cardimax and antiarrhythmic drugs such as amiodarone, bretylium, disopyramide, mefloquine, dofetilide, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol, arsenic trioxide, chlorpromazine, cisapride, dolasetron, droperidol, mesoridazine, pentamidine, pimozide, tacitidine , ziprasidone, moxifloxacin, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole; Concomitant use of Cardimax with cyclosporin may reduce the therapeutic effect of the drug and increase the risk of nephrotoxicity; There are drug interactions between Cardimax and diuretics (eg thiazides); There are drug interactions between Cardimax and drugs Methenamine, Phenytoin Trimethoprim. Patients are recommended to use Cardimax medicine as directed by the doctor. In particular, patients should not take the drug in low, high, or prolonged amounts for longer than the recommended time. This helps to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment and significantly reduces the possible side effects.
