Uses of Glogapen


Glogapen is a medication used in the treatment of epilepsy or neuropathic pain. Glogapen should be used properly to avoid unwanted effects that can be life-threatening.

1. What is Glogapen?


Glogapen is a drug belonging to the group of antiepileptic drugs, treating neuropathic pain with the main active ingredient being Gabapentin.
The drug is in capsule form, each Glogapen tablet contains 300mg of Gabapentin and excipients including Lactose monohydrate, corn starch, tacl.

2. What are the effects of Glogapen?

The Gabapentin component in the drug is structurally related to the neurotransmitter GABA but does not act directly on GABA receptors, and does not change the structure, release, metabolism and absorption of GABA. Scientists know that Gabapentin acts on chemical transmitters in the brain and nerves.
The main effect of Glogapen is used as adjunct or alone in the treatment of partial seizures, with or without recurrent generalized seizures.

3. How to use Glogapen?


Take this medicine with or without food, use it exactly as directed by your doctor, pharmacist or leaflet.
Dosage in adults is based on medical condition and response to treatment. For children, the dosage is also based on weight. The dosage can be referred to as follows:
In epilepsy:
In people 12 years of age and older: start with a dose of 1 Glogapen 300mg tablet on the first day, on the second day 1 Glogapen tablet twice a day, on the third day. 1 Glogapen tablet/time three times a day. Thereafter, it can be increased to 12 tablets (3600mg) per day, divided equally into three oral doses. The maximum daily dose that can be used is 4800mg. Note that the interval between doses in the three-daily regimen should not exceed 12 hours to avoid flare-ups of seizures. In people 3 to under 12 years of age: after the initial dose, use a dose of 25 to 35 mg per kg body weight per day, divided equally into three oral doses. In the treatment of pain caused by nerve causes, there are two ways to use:
The first day 1 tablet of Glogapen 300mg x 1 time/day; the second day: 1 tablet of Glogapen 300 mg/time, twice a day; the third day: 1 tablet of Glogapen 300 mg/time three times a day. Or the first day: 1 tablet of Glogapen 300 mg each time, three times a day. Thereafter, the dose may be increased by 300 mg/day every 2 to 3 days in three divided doses based on the patient's response until an effective dose is reached. The maximum can be increased to 3600mg/day.
Reduce dose in people undergoing hemodialysis or with impaired renal function depending on ClCr creatinine clearance.
Do not arbitrarily change the dosage without consulting your doctor.
Do not use Glogapen for anyone who is allergic to the ingredients in the medicine.
To make sure this medication is safe, tell your doctor if you have a history of:
Have breathing problems or lung disease (such as COPD) Kidney disease Diabetes ; Depression, suicidal thoughts or actions; Drug ; Convulsions (unless taking medication to treat seizures); Liver disease Heart disease Be careful when stopping or adding other drugs to existing therapy.
Monitor drug users to avoid conditions such as depression, suicidal thoughts, mood swings...
Only use drugs in pregnant or lactating women when absolutely necessary after weighing the benefits and harms.
This medicine may affect the ability to operate machines or drive. To avoid a dangerous situation, you should only do these jobs when you are sure that you are no longer under the influence of the drug.
Drug overdose can occur and cause double vision, gloom, slurred speech, coma, diarrhea. Immediately go to medical facilities for assistance.
Using Glogapen with other medicines that make you drowsy or slow your breathing can cause dangerous side effects or death. Ask your doctor before taking medications such as opioids, muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, cold or allergy medicine, or medicine for anxiety or seizures.
Store the medicine at a temperature below 30 degrees Celsius, protected from light, away from moisture.

4. Side effects of the drug Glogapen


Common side effects of Glogapen may include:
Fever, chills, unusual tiredness, sore throat, body aches, Headache; Double vision; Swollen legs/feet; Hard to say; Dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness; Disorders of balance or eye movement; Nausea, vomiting. Some side effects are more likely to occur in children when taking the drug. Contact your doctor if your child shows these signs:
Change in behavior; Memory problems; Difficulty concentrating; Restless, or aggressive. Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to the medicine such as: hives; shortness of breath; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and throat. Or more serious with: fever, swollen glands, muscle pain, severe weakness, unusual bruising, upper abdominal pain or jaundice, yellow eyes.
Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: mood/behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping or irritability, agitation, aggression, restlessness, moodiness excited (mentally or physically), depressed, having thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.
Glogapen can cause life-threatening breathing problems. If you have slow, intermittent breathing, blue lips, or difficulty breathing. Breathing problems may be more common in older adults or people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
