Uses of Lansotrent

An Indian product imported to Vietnam through Tenamyd company is Lansotrent drug with the effect of treating stomach and duodenal ulcers and effectively solving the problem of gastroesophageal reflux. So, who should Lansotrent be used for and what dosage should be used?

1.1. What is Lansotrent? Lansotrent belongs to the group of drugs known as Proton Pump Inhibitors, which reduce acid secretion. Lansotrent contains Lansoprazole 30mg as the main ingredient.
The drug is made in the form of a black-and-violet double-headed hard capsule, 10 tablets in a blister, a box of 3 blisters.
Lansotrent is currently recommended for use in adults.
1.2. What does Lansotrent do? Lansoprazole is a derivative that inhibits gastric acid secretion. Because of that, Lansoprazole is used for short-term treatment of peptic ulcer disease and long-term treatment of pathological hypersecretion of gastrointestinal secretions (such as Zollinger Ellison syndrome, polyendocrine tumor, mastocytosis, etc.) system).
Lansotrent is prescribed by a doctor for use in the following cases:
Stomach ulcer, duodenal ulcer; Peptic ulcer disease progression. Esophagitis due to gastroesophageal reflux. Gastric ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Zollinger Ellison syndrome. In combination with two antibiotics for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in peptic ulcer disease.

2.1. How to use Lansotrent Take the drug 30 minutes before a meal for two purposes:
Avoid the influence of food on the bioavailability of the drug. Helps maximize drug concentration in plasma. With the enteric-release form (does not dissolve in the stomach), swallow the tablet whole, without biting, chewing or crushing it. 2.2. Dosage of Lansotrent Gastric Ulcer
15 to 30 mg, once a day, for 4 to 8 weeks. Should be taken in the morning before breakfast.
Active ulcers: Take 15 mg daily for 4 weeks. Maintenance dose: 15 mg orally daily. Stomach ulcers associated with NSAIDs
Treatment: Take 30 mg daily for 8 weeks. Prophylaxis: Take 15 mg daily for 12 weeks. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Initially 60mg daily, may increase dose up to 180mg every 12 hours.
If the dose exceeds 120 mg per day, the dose should be divided every 12 hours.
H.pylori infection
Take 30 mg daily for 10-14 days in combination with H.pylori-killing antibiotics.
Dose adjustment:
Patients with impaired liver function:
Mild or moderate (Child-Pugh Criterion A or B): No dose adjustment required. Severe (Child-Pugh C): 15 mg orally daily. Patients with renal impairment: no dosage change is required. Elderly people: daily dose should not exceed 30mg. Treatment of missed dose:
Take the medicine as soon as you remember. However, if the interval between the next dose
is too short, skip the missed dose and continue with the dosing schedule. Do not take a double
dose to make up for a missed dose.
Treatment of overdose: Symptoms: Hypothermia, sedation, convulsions, decreased respiratory rate. Treatment:
There is currently no experience of intentional overdose in humans. As in all cases of suspected overdose, treatment should include supportive measures and symptomatic relief. Gastric lavage should be performed and the unabsorbed portion of the drug removed from the gastrointestinal tract, and the patient should be carefully monitored.
Lansoprazole cannot be cleared from the circulation by hemodialysis.

Patients with hypersensitivity to the main ingredient lansoprazole or other ingredients of the drug Lansotrent. Pregnant women in the first 3 months. Children under 18.

If persistent diarrhea does not improve, immediately think of Clostridium difficile diarrhea (CDAD).
With caution in patients with impaired liver function. Patients with Child-Pugh C criteria (bad prognosis) require dose reduction.
Serious allergic reactions such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) may occur with the drug. If there are any signs or symptoms of illness, temporarily stop taking the drug and seek medical attention immediately.
It is possible that serum chromogranin A (CgA) levels decrease and cause false positives in the diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors. Lansotrent should be discontinued for some time before diagnostic testing is performed.
Arrhythmias, convulsions due to hypomagnesemia have been reported. Therefore, magnesium supplementation when necessary, especially when used in high doses and for a long time. However, in some cases, magnesium supplementation did not work, leading to discontinuation of Lansotrent.
Although gastric symptoms are reduced with Lansotrent, the risk of malignancies such as gastric cancer cannot be excluded.
Acute interstitial nephritis has been reported with PPIs; discontinue Lansotrent immediately if acute interstitial nephritis occurs.
Pregnancy: The results of observational studies have not been able to correlate Lansoprazole with adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Lactation: There is no information regarding the occurrence of Lansoprazole in breast milk. Weigh the benefits of breastfeeding against the mother's clinical need for treatment and any potential adverse effects to the nursing infant due to treatment or the mother's condition.

Hypersensitivity: Rash and pruritus may occasionally occur. In this case, Lansotrent should be discontinued. Liver: Because elevations in SGOT, SGPT, Phosphatase-alkali, LDH, or G-GTP occur infrequently, close monitoring is recommended. If abnormalities occur, use Lansotrent should be discontinued. Blood: Anemia, leukopenia, or eosinophilia may occur infrequently, thrombocytopenia rarely occurs. Gastrointestinal system: Occasionally constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth or abdominal distension may occur. Neuropsychiatric: Headache, somnolence may occur infrequently. Insomnia and dizziness are rare. Other side effects: Fever or elevations in total cholesterol and uric acid sometimes occur.
