Uses of Mechlorethamine


Mechlorethamine, also known by the common name Chlormethine, belongs to the group of nitrogen mustard alkylating agents. Mechlorethamine is used in the treatment of skin cancer, anticancer in Hodgkin's disease and lymphoma.

1. What are the uses of Mechlorethamine?


Mechlorethamine is indicated for use in the treatment of the following conditions:
Skin cancer (cutaneous T-cell lymphoma); Lymphocytic leukemia; Chronic lymphocytic leukemia ; Mycosis fungal diseases; Bronchial carcinoma; Polycythemia vera; Assists in alleviating the symptoms of metastatic carcinoma leading to effusion. Mechlorethamine is used directly on the skin. When using Mechlorethamine, the drug works to slow or prevent the spread and growth of cancer-causing cells.

2. Dosage and usage


Apply a thin layer to the affected skin, use once a day.
For children, a doctor's prescription is required.
How to use:
When using the drug, it is necessary to follow the instructions of the doctor. After taking the medicine out of the refrigerator, it should be applied within 30 minutes and stored immediately after use. After washing the skin to be treated, the medicine should be applied after 30 minutes. Once the medicine has been applied, wait 4 hours after the medicine is absorbed, then take a shower. We can use a moisturizer applied to the treated skin 2 hours after using Mechlorethamine. When applying the medicine you should use gloves, after applying the medicine, you should wash your hands immediately even if you have worn gloves before. The treated skin should not be covered with tight gauze. Do not use the medicine in areas such as around the eyes, eyelids because the medicine can cause burns, even more serious can cause blurred vision and blindness. If the drug accidentally gets into the eyes, quickly rinse the eyes with physiological saline several times for at least 15 minutes. Contact your doctor if you experience any serious reactions. 3. Side effects when using drugs


Some possible side effects when using Mechlorethamine include:
Skin irritation, itching, blistering, pain, swelling and darkening of the skin where the medicine was applied. You may also experience some more serious symptoms such as bruising; signs of skin infection such as pus, ulcers, fever, chills. Serious problems are less common, such as getting other skin cancers, which are very rare. If someone puts the medicine on you and they have a problem with skin lesions or unusual skin changes, contact your doctor immediately. In case of swallowing Mechlorethamine, it will cause serious effects on the gastrointestinal tract and at the same time appear some body reactions such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and bleeding. 4. Some notes when using drugs


Before using Mechlorethamine, the patient should tell the doctor when experiencing the following problems:
Have ever had skin diseases such as skin irritation, infection, open sores on the skin. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, and dietary supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Because Mechlorethamine is a highly toxic drug, especially for women who are pregnant, nursing or of childbearing age. 5. Storage of mechlorethamine
