Uses of Medskin Acyclovir 200

Medskin Acyclovir is a group of drugs that treat parasites, infections, fungi, and viruses.
The main ingredient has Acyclovir 200mg.

Medskin 200 is used in the following cases:
Used in the prevention of herpes simplex recurrence in patients with normal immunity. For the prevention of herpes simplex infections in immunocompromised patients. Treatment of herpes simplex infections of the skin and mucous membranes. Includes primary and recurrent genital herpes infections. Indications for the treatment of chickenpox (varicella). Indications for infection with herpes zoster (shingles).

Dosage for adults
For the treatment of early-onset herpes simplex, including genital herpes: 200mg x 5 times/day (usually every 4 hours upon awakening). Use the medicine for about 5 to 10 days. Severe immunocompromised cases or patients with malabsorption: 400mg x 5 times/day. Maintain dose for about 5 days. For prevention of herpes simplex recurrence in immunocompetent patients: 800 mg divided into 2 to 4 times/day, may reduce dose by 400 to 600 mg/day. Doses higher than 1 gram/day may be used as directed by your doctor. Prevention of herpes simplex in immunocompromised people: 200 to 400 mg 4 times a day. For the prevention of chronic disease : Not suitable for mild or recurrent herpes simplex infections. In these cases, treatment of each stage of recurrence is more effective. Use a dose of 200mg x 5 times / day for 5 days, preferably during the onset of symptoms. Chickenpox: Take 800mg x 4 or 5 times/day for about 5 to 7 days. Herpes zoster: Use 800mg x 5 times/day for about 7 to 10 days. Dosage for children:
When used to treat herpes simplex infections and prevent herpes simplex infections in immunocompromised patients: For children over 2 years old: Use as adult dose. For children under 2 years old: Use half the adult dose. Treatment of chickenpox: For children over 2 years old: Use 20mg/kg, the maximum dose is 800mg x 4 times/day for 5 days. For children > 6 years old: Use 800mg x 4 times/day. For children from 2 to 5 years old: 400mg x 4 times/day. For children under 2 years old: 200mg x 4 times/day. Dosage in Renal Impairment
The dose of acyclovir should be reduced in patients with renal impairment according to creatinine clearance (CC).
If CC < 10 ml/min: + Herpes simplex infection: 200 mg every 12 hours.
+ Varicella-zoster infection: Take 800 mg every 12 hours.
If CC is between 10 and 25 ml/min: + Varicella-zoster infection: Take 800mg x 3 times/day every 8 hours.
Overdose phenomenon
Symptoms: Acyclovir is partially absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. When patients overdose up to 20 grams of acyclovir in a single dose, there is usually no toxicity. Repeated overdose over several days has been associated with gastrointestinal effects (such as nausea and vomiting). In addition, neurologic effects (headaches and dysfunction) may also occur.
Treatment: Patients should be closely monitored for all signs of poisoning. Hemodialysis significantly removes acyclovir from the blood. From there, the symptoms of overdose can be treated.
Contraindications
Contraindicated to all people who are sensitive to Acyclovir and valacyclovir.

Renal failure may be associated with the use of acyclovir in some patients. This effect is usually reversible and has been reported in response to hydration or dose reduction or discontinuation. However, it may progress to acute renal failure.
Side effects often occur after patients take systemic drugs. These include increased serum bilirubin and liver enzymes, appearance of hematologic changes, skin rash (including polycythemia vera, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic skin necrosis), headache, dizziness, and fever. In addition, digestive effects such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Several cases of hypersensitivity have been reported. Side effects hepatitis and jaundice have rarely been reported.

Medskin acyclovir 200 is eliminated by the kidneys. Therefore, the dose needs to be adjusted in patients with renal impairment. Elderly patients often have reduced renal function, therefore, the dose should be adjusted for this group of patients. Elderly patients and patients with renal impairment are at increased risk of neurotoxic side effects. In these two groups of patients, careful monitoring of adverse events is required. These reactions were generally reversible upon discontinuation of treatment.
Pregnant and lactating women: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Medskin acyclovir 200 should be used during pregnancy when the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. Before use, consult a doctor. Acyclovir should be used with caution in nursing women and only when indicated.
