Uses of Negatidazole

1. What is the use of Negatidazol?


Negatidazol drug is prepared in the form of an infusion solution with the main ingredient being Tinidazole. This is an alternative derivative of the imidazole compound with antiprotozoa and anaerobic bacteria activity. The mechanism of action is due to the ability of the drug to enter the microbial cells and cause damage to the DNA strands or inhibit their synthesis. Some of the protozoa killed by Tinidazole include Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia lamblia and Entamoeba histolytica. In addition, the drug is also effective against Gardnerella vaginalis and most anaerobic bacteria including: Bacteroides fragilis, Clostridium spp., Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Bacteroides spp., Peptostreptococcus spp., Eubacterium spp., Fusobacterium spp., Peptococcus spp. and Veillonella spp.

2. Indications of the drug Negatidazol


Negatidazole is used in the prophylactic treatment to prevent postoperative infections caused by anaerobic bacteria, especially in surgery prone to infection such as colon, gastrointestinal and gynecological surgery.
In addition, the drug is also used in the treatment of anaerobic infections such as:
Intraperitoneal infections: Peritoneal abscess, peritonitis; Gynecological infections: endometritis, uterine-ovarian abscess, myositis; Sepsis ; Postoperative infection; Skin and soft tissue infections; Upper and lower respiratory tract infections: Lung abscess, pneumonia.

3. Contraindications of the drug Negatidazol


Negatidazol is contraindicated in the following cases:
Pregnant women in the first 3 months of pregnancy or breastfeeding; Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Tinidazole; People with a history or disorders of blood components; Alcohol can and should be avoided for up to 72 hours after stopping Tinidazole because of the potential for disulfiram-like reactions.

4. Instructions for using Negatidazol


Negatidazole is used to treat anaerobic infections by intravenous infusion of 400ml of 2mg/ml solution (800mg Tinidazole) at a rate of 10ml/min. Thereafter, continue the daily infusion of 800mg/time or 400mg/times/day until switching to oral medication is possible.

5. Negatidazol side effects


Some infrequent, mild, and spontaneous gastrointestinal side effects include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, metallic taste in the tongue, and abdominal pain. In addition, some rare hypersensitivity reactions in the form of skin rash, pruritus, urticaria and angioedema may occur. Tinidazole can cause neurological disorders accompanied by dizziness, lightheadedness, loss of balance and, rarely, convulsions.
