Uses of Neostyl

Neostyl suppository is a combination of 3 antibiotics Metronidazol, Neomycin and Nystatin. Neostyl gynecological suppository is used to treat certain types of vaginal infections, providing quick bactericidal effect and improving the symptoms of uncomfortable vaginal infections in women.

1. What is Neostyl gynecological suppository?

Neostyl gynecological suppositories are made in the form of vaginal tablets containing the following ingredients:
Metronidazol BP 500mg; Neomycin Sulphate BP 65,060 LU; Nystatin BP 100,000 LU. With excipients: Mycrocrystalline Cellulose, Propyl Gailate, PVP K30, Sodium Methyl Paraben, Colloidal Anhydrous Silica, Magnesium Stearate, Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, Lactose, Lactic Acid.
Neostyl suppository is indicated for use in the treatment of gynecological infections such as bacterial infections, candidiasis or vaginitis causing vaginitis and vulvovaginitis.
The spectrum of action by component is listed as follows:
Neomycin is an aminoglycoside with bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria; Nystatin is a polyene antifungal agent with excellent antifungal activity. Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole that is effective against various anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. 2. Dosage and usage of Neostyl gynecological suppositories Neostyl gynecological suppositories should be placed deep into the vagina, should be placed at night before going to bed within 10 consecutive days. The steps to use Neostyl suppositories are as follows:
Pull the lever of the applicator out as far as possible. Carefully place the tablet in the center of the clamp of the applicator; Insert the tablet device carefully as deep into the vagina as possible (preferably in the lying position); Push the injection lever to the full, slowly drop the tablet into the vagina, take out the applicator; After use, pull out the set lever completely from the setter, wash in warm soapy water and dry carefully. Store in an inconspicuous and clean place ready for the next use. Always follow the doctor's instructions and complete the regimen. Continue using Neostyl suppositories until the prescription is finished even if the symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping Neostyl too soon can allow bacteria or yeast to continue to grow, leading to a recurrence of the infection.
Conversely, if your symptoms worsen or do not improve within 10 days, notify your doctor immediately. You may be prescribed more medication to treat your condition.
Along with treating the patient, the partner may also need to be examined and given medication to prevent possible future reinfection.

3. Things to keep in mind when using Neostyl gynecological suppositories

Lactating women should avoid the use of Neostyl gynecological suppositories because Metronidazole can be excreted in breast milk. Therefore, if no other alternative is available, breast-feeding should be discontinued during or after 2 days of treatment with Metronidazole. Because the drug is an antibiotic, during use, it is necessary to pay attention to signs of allergy. If feeling itchy or sensitive in the vulva, vagina, the woman should stop treatment and see a doctor soon to change the regimen accordingly. Patients should be cautious about drinking alcohol while being treated with Neostyl to avoid the risk of an interaction with alcohol. Do not have sex during treatment with Neostyl gynecological suppositories. 4. Undesirable effects when using Neostyl gynecological suppositories Undesirable effects when using Metronidazol in general or Neostyl gynecological suppositories in particular were recorded with a lower frequency when used by mouth. However, because the drug is also absorbed from the vagina although with a lower bioavailability orally, it is still important to note that the drug may have the following side effects:
On the urinary system: Burning or itching of the vagina , increased vaginal discharge; On the cardiovascular system: makes the heart beat faster and causes angina attacks; On the nervous system: Headache, dizziness; Gastrointestinal: Indigestion, nausea/vomiting, metallic taste in tongue, anorexia, constipation, diarrhea; Uncommon: Hearing loss. In summary, Neostyl vaginal suppository is a combination of antibiotic and antifungal drugs, indicated in case of mixed vaginal infections, ie the cause can be caused by fungi or bacteria. As a result, Neostyl suppositories have a broad spectrum of action, helping to quickly destroy pathogenic microorganisms and improve symptoms early. To achieve optimal bactericidal effect and avoid re-infection, women need to strictly follow the doctor's instructions throughout the course of using the drug, in combination with local hygiene measures as well as concurrent treatment for partner.
