1. What are the effects of Philoclex?


The drug is packaged in a box, each box is 1 vial of 5ml, the solution is white / off-white. The drug includes Tobramycin 15mg/5ml and Dexamethasone 5mg/5ml.
Philoclex is used for:
Treatment of eye inflammation Topical treatment of the external structures of the eye caused by infections and bacteria sensitive to tobramycin, or by inflammation of the adnexa, keratitis, bulbar conjunctiva, and eyelid inflammation. Treatment of inflammation and prevention of infection associated with cataract surgery in adults and children 2 years of age and older, other eye surgeries.

2. How to use Philoclex?


Philoclex is for topical use only and is not intended for injection or oral administration.
For mild & moderate infections: Instill 1-2 drops in the infected eye, every 4 hours.
In severe infection/infection: Instill 2 drops every hour until improvement, then consult a specialist to reduce the appropriate therapeutic dose before stopping the drug.
Put one or two drops into the conjunctival sac every 4 to 6 hours. During the first 24-48 hours, the dose may be increased to 1 or 2 drops every 2 hours. The dose should usually be reduced gradually as clinical manifestations improve. Be careful not to stop taking the drug too soon.
Use the vial separately to avoid infection, and do not use after 2 weeks of opening.

3. Contraindications to the use of Philoclex


People with the following problems should not use Philoclex
Hypersensitivity to tobramycin or dexamethasone or to any of the excipients Herpes simplex keratitis. Vaccination, chickenpox and other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva. Infection of the eye with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium leprae, or Mycobacterium avium. 4. How to deal with missed dose?


If you forget a small time, you should add it as soon as you remember it.
If you miss a dose of Philoclex for too long and it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose.
Do not take 2 doses of Philoclex at the same time to make up for a missed dose.

5. Note when using


To ensure safety, when the doctor prescribes, the patient needs to tell the doctor the name of the drugs he is using to avoid maximum side effects when combining drugs.
If you have symptoms of visual disturbances, or blurred vision, you should see an eye doctor. Philoclex users should have their eye pressure checked regularly, especially in children because of the risk of steroid-induced hypertension.
Benzalkonium chloride, used as a preservative in this product may cause eye irritation and discolor soft contact lenses. Therefore, during treatment of infection or inflammation in the eye and Philoclex, contact lenses should not be worn. If you still use contact lenses, consult your doctor for instructions to remove the lenses before applying Philoclex and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
If there are symptoms of itchy eyes, eyelid edema, red conjunctivitis ... after using, need to stop using the drug immediately.
When the disease drops an overdose, the same symptoms may occur when there are side effects of the drug. The dose should be reduced or discontinued if necessary.

6. Philoclex side effects


During the use of the drug, the patient needs to inform the doctor about the unwanted effects encountered when using the drug.
6.1. General side effects: Side effects can occur when steroids are combined with antibiotics. This could be due to the steroid in the ingredient, the antibiotic in combination, or both.
The most common side effects for tobramycin ophthalmic are ocular hypersensitivity and toxicity, including eyelid swelling and itching, and conjunctival redness.
Similar reactions may occur with other antibiotics of the aminoglycoside class for ophthalmic use.
Side effects associated with steroids that increase intraocular pressure (OP) worsening of glaucoma, and damage to the optic nerve (rare); posterior subcapsular cataract; slow wound healing.
Long-term use of topical corticosteroids can lead to increased intraocular pressure leading to optic nerve damage, vision loss.
Diabetics taking Philoclex have an increased risk of corticosteroid-induced glaucoma, increased risk of cataracts.
Prolonged use of Philoclex can also lead to secondary eye infections. Because corticosteroids can reduce resistance and make it easier to get infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites; At the same time, it is difficult to detect signs of infection.
Experience systemic reactions such as erythema, pruritus, urticaria, skin rash, anaphylaxis, anaphylactic reaction or bullous reaction. If hypersensitivity develops during the use of this drug, treatment should be discontinued.
Prolonged use of antibiotics such as tobramycin can lead to fungal infections. If a fungal infection occurs, treatment should be discontinued.
Topical ophthalmic corticosteroids may delay corneal wound healing.
Thinning of the cornea or sclera may occur with the use of topical corticosteroids.
With prolonged use may cause peptic ulcer, water and salt retention, Cushing's syndrome, adrenal cortex atrophy, osteoporosis, muscle atrophy.
6.2. How does Philoclex affect pregnant and lactating women and machine operators? When exposed in utero, the Tobramycin component in Philoclex is not expected to cause fetal toxicity. However, when the mother uses a lot of corticosteroids during pregnancy, there is an increased risk of fetal growth retardation. The child should then be carefully monitored for signs of adrenal insufficiency.
When a pregnant mother takes Philoclex, a risk to the nursing baby cannot be excluded. Therefore, you need to consult your doctor and consider stopping breastfeeding or stopping treatment to ensure safety.
There are very few evaluations of the effects of dexamethasone on male or female fertility.
Philoclex has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines. However, with eye drops, temporary blurred vision or other visual disturbances may affect the ability to drive or use machines. Then wait until your vision is clear before continuing to drive or use machines.

7. How to store Philoclex?


Store Philoclex in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, avoiding direct sunlight.
