Uses of Stadmazol

Vaginitis has many different causes, one of which is Candida infection. In this case, Stadmazol can be used vaginally to increase the effectiveness of the treatment. So what is Stadmazol and how should it be used?

1. What is Stadmazol?

Stadmazol is a product of LD STADA (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. with the main ingredient being the active ingredient Clotrimazole 100mg. Stadmazol is mainly used in the treatment of candida vaginitis.
The dosage form of Stadmazol is a vaginal tablet, packaged in a box of 1 blister x 6 tablets and circulated in Vietnam with the registration number VD-24576-16. The active ingredient Clotrimazole in Stadmazol is an imidazole derivative with broad-spectrum antifungal activity. The antifungal mechanism of Clotrimazole is to inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol, thereby impairing the function and structure of the cell membrane of the fungus. The broad-spectrum antifungal activity of Clotrimazole in in vitro and in vivo studies shows that it is effective against ringworm, yeast and mold...
The effect of Stadmazol is both growth inhibition and digestion. Fungal killing depends on the concentration of Clotrimazole at the site of fungal infection. The in vitro activity of Stadmazol can be limited by the growth environment of the fungus, and the sensitivity of the fungal spores to this active substance is not high.
Some variants of susceptible fungi have primary resistance to Clotrimazole, but the incidence is very rare. Meanwhile, the development of secondary resistance in susceptible fungal strains has only been observed in isolated cases during treatment.
Pharmacokinetics of Stadmazol:
Pharmacokinetic studies using Stadmazol vaginally show that only a small amount of Clotrimazol (about 3-10% of the dose) is absorbed systemically; However, this absorbed amount of Clotrimazole is rapidly metabolized by the liver to a pharmacologically inactive metabolite, so peak plasma concentrations of Clotrimazole when administered at 500 mg vaginally are less than 10 ng/ ml. This proves that Stadmazol vaginally does not cause significant systemic effects or limit the side effects of Clotrimazole.

2. Indications and contraindications of Stadmazol

Stadmazol is indicated for use mainly in patients with vaginitis caused by Candida fungi.
However, cases with a background or history of hypersensitivity to Clotrimazole or any of the excipients of Stadmazol are contraindicated for use.

3. Dosage and how to use Stadmazol

How to use Stadmazol:
Patients need to put Stadmazol tablets as deep into the vagina as possible, preferably in a supine position with knees slightly bent; Patients should choose the appropriate time to vaginally insert Stadmazol, should avoid the period of menstruation and must finish the course of treatment before menstruation; In some special cases after vaginal placement where Stadmazol tablets do not disintegrate, such as vaginal dryness due to menopause, doctors will recommend Clotrimazole in the form of vaginal cream; Note to increase the effectiveness of treatment of vaginitis with Stadmazol, doctors recommend concurrent treatment of balanitis in male partners. Dosage of Stadmazol:
First vaginal candidiasis: Normally, the treatment regimen for Candida vaginitis is to put 2 Stadmazol tablets in the evening for 3 consecutive nights; Vaginal candidiasis re-infection: Normally, the course of treatment requires 6 days, 1 Stadmazol tablet per day in the evening. In some necessary cases, it is possible to put 2 Stadmazol tablets per day, divided into 2 times morning and evening and can be placed continuously for 6-12 days. Note: The above dosage of Stadmazol is for reference only. The specific dose in each patient will depend on the condition and degree of vaginitis. Therefore, to get the right dose, the patient should consult a doctor or medical professional.
In the event of accidental ingestion of Stadmazol, the patient can be managed with conventional measures such as gastric lavage when clinical symptoms of Clotrimazole overdose are evident (including dizziness, nausea or vomiting). An important issue is that gastric lavage should be performed only when the airway is well protected.
In case the patient forgets a dose of Stadmazol, take it back as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose of Stadmazol, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the scheduled time.

4. Stadmazol side effects

When using Stadmazol 100mg, patients may experience the following undesirable effects (ADRs):
Uncommon side effects of Stadmazol (1/1000 < ADR < 1/100): Mild burning. Rare side effects of Stadmazol (1/10,000 ≤ ADR < 1/1000): Itching and irritation of the vulva when the drug is inserted.

5. Be careful when using Stadmazol

Do not take Stadmazol pills. Before using Stadmazol vaginal, consult your doctor if you have any of the following: Have more than 2 times of candida vaginitis in the last 6 months; History of sexually transmitted diseases or sex with a partner who has a sexually transmitted disease; Women who are pregnant or women who are suspected of being pregnant; Patients under 16 years old or people over 60 years old; Hypersensitivity to imidazole or other vaginal antifungals.; Irregular vaginal bleeding; Unusual vaginal bleeding or discharge with blood stains; Vulvar or vaginal ulcers, blisters or sores; Lower abdominal pain or difficulty urinating; any side effects of Stadmazol such as flushing, irritation, or swelling; Fever or chills; Nausea or vomiting; Diarrhea; Vaginal discharge has a foul odor. Patients should consult a doctor if symptoms do not improve within 1 week of using Stadmazol suppositories. Stadmazol suppositories may be reintroduced if candida re-infection occurs after 7 days. However, if candida re-infection occurs more than 2 times within 6 months, the patient should consult a doctor; Stadmazol can damage condoms, thereby reducing the effectiveness of contraception. Healthcare professionals should advise patients to switch to other precautions for at least 5 days after taking Stadmazol; Ability to drive and use machines: Stadmazol has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines; Pregnancy: There are no clear and adequate studies with the use of Stadmazol in pregnant women during the first trimester. Stadmazol is only used for pregnant women in the first 3 months of pregnancy when clearly prescribed by a doctor. In pregnancy, vaginal tablets can be used, but not for the use of drug devices; Lactation: It is not known whether Stadmazol is excreted in human milk, so caution should be exercised when drugs containing clotrimazole are administered to a nursing woman.

6. Stadmazol drug interactions

Concomitant use of Stadmazol vaginal with oral tacrolimus containing drugs (FK-506, immunosuppressants) may increase serum concentrations of Tacrolimus. The same goes for Sirolimus. Therefore, patients should be monitored for signs and symptoms of tacrolimus or sirolimus overdose, if necessary, by determining their serum concentrations during treatment.
Store Stadmazol in a tightly closed container, in a dry place, protected from light and at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Stadmazol has the active ingredient Clotrimazole 100mg as the main active ingredient. Stadmazol is mainly used in the treatment of candida vaginitis.
