Uses of Sutagran

1. What is Sutagran?


Sutagran drug belongs to the group of drugs to treat migraine, is made in the form of film-coated tablets packed in boxes of 1 blister, 2 blisters x 6 tablets.
Sutagran 50 drug has the main ingredient Sumatriptan (as Sumatriptan succinate) 50mg and other excipients.
Sutagran 100 has the main ingredient Sumatriptan (as Sumatriptan succinate) 100mg and other excipients.

2. Indications for taking Sutagran


Sutagran is used in the following cases:
Acute migraine with or without warning signs. Do not use Sutagran for the prevention/management of migraines due to paralysis and migraine.

3. Dosage - How to take Sutagran


Use Sutagran with a sufficient amount of water, take the medicine as soon as possible when the headache occurs.
Single dose 25, 50mg Sumatriptan or 100mg Sumatriptan depending on response;
May repeat the dose after 2 hours, the total dose should not exceed 200 mg Sumatriptan / day; Recurrence of headache after initiation of injectable sumatriptan: add tablets at least 2 hours apart (maximum 100 mg Sumatriptan/day).

4. Contraindications to taking Sutagran


Do not use Sutagran in the following cases:
Patients with hypersensitivity to Sumatriptan or to any of its ingredients. Patients with a history or symptoms of myocardial ischemia, cerebrovascular disease, angina pectoris, peripheral vascular syndrome, being treated for cardiovascular disease. Uncontrolled hypertension. Patients who are taking MAOIs concurrently or within 14 days of discontinuation of this treatment. Hemiplegia, migraine due to basilar vein do not use Sutagran. Severe hepatic impairment Do not take Sutagran within 24 hours before & after taking another 5-HT1 agonist or ergotamine & derivatives.

5.Sutagran drug interactions

MAOIs Drugs containing Ergotamine, Dihydroergotamine derivatives, Metysergit. Inhibitors such as: Fluoxetin, Paroxetin, Sertraline, Fluvoxamine

6. What side effects does Sutagran cause?


During the treatment of Sutagran, patients may experience some unwanted side effects such as:
Chest pain, neck pain, lower jaw pain, sore throat. Irritability, drowsiness, fatigue, sensation of heat and cold, crawling, hypersensitivity to light/noise. Shortness of breath, fainting, high or low blood pressure, muscle pain, sweating, nervousness. Sinusitis, tinnitus, respiratory infections, otitis externa. Rash

7. Precautions when using Sutagran


Sutagran should be used with caution in patients at risk of coronary artery disease, with congenital predisposition to Prinzmetal's angina, decreased blood flow, renal or hepatic impairment.
Sutagran should be used with caution in people with a history of suspected infarction after taking sumatriptan, a history of atypical headache.
Pregnant, lactating, children, the elderly should not use Sutagran.
Exclude other severe neurological disease before treatment with Sutagran.
