Uses of Sutra

Sutra is a suspension used in the treatment, treatment and prevention of ulcers in the stomach, duodenum or esophagus. For you to understand more about the use of Sutra, please refer to the information through the article below.

1. What is the effect of Sutra?

Sutra medicine has the main ingredient is Sucralfate and the same excipients are just enough. Prepared in the form of an oral suspension.
Sucralfate is a salt complex of Aluminum Hydroxyd and Sucrose Octasulfate. It dissociates in the acidic environment of the stomach into an anionic form, which binds to the base of the ulcer. This binding helps create a barrier to protect the stomach lining from the attack of factors such as Pepsin, bile salts or gastric acid. Sucralfate also increases the secretion of gastric mucus.
Sucralfate is also an acid buffer and inhibits the action of Pepsin, which contributes to the absorption of bile salts. These properties of sucralfate enable the drug to act as a barrier against attack by acids, pepsin, and bile salts.
Sucralfate can also bind to intact mucosa. Helps create a barrier to protect the healthy mucosa from attacking factors. In addition, Sucralfate increases the levels of fibroblast growth factors and epidermal growth factors which help to rapidly heal the gastrointestinal mucosa.

Treatment with Sutra should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing hypophosphataemia and, if used, should be monitored regularly for phosphate levels. Patients with chronic renal failure or those on dialysis often have impaired excretion of aluminum compounds. In addition, aluminum also does not pass through the dialysis membrane because it binds to plasma proteins such as Albumin and Transferrin. May lead to aluminum accumulation. The problem of aluminum accumulation and aluminum toxicity can cause osteodystrophy, osteopathy, and encephalopathy in patients with renal failure. Therefore, Sutra must be used with caution in patients with chronic renal failure. The risk of aluminum toxicity may also be increased if Sutra is taken with Vitamin D or with vitamin D analogues such as paricalcitol.
