2. Indications and contraindications Metrothabi


2.1. Indications Metrothabi is indicated for patients infected with Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica (including acute intestinal and liver abscess), Dientamoeba fragilis, Dracunculus medinensis and notably Giardia lamblia. Patients with severe infections caused by susceptible anaerobic bacteria such as intra-abdominal infections, gynecological infections, skin infections, central nervous system infections, bacteremia and endocarditis. Concomitant use with neomycin or kanamycin for the prevention of infection in colorectal surgery and gynecological surgery. Metrothabi is used in patients with acute ulcerative necrotizing gingivitis, periodontal gingivitis and other dental infections caused by anaerobic bacteria. Used together with some drugs to treat peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori. 2.2. Contraindications Metrothabi should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to metronidazole or other nitro-imidazole derivatives.

3. Dosage and how to take Metrothabi


Metrothabi is prepared in the form of tablets with the time of use with or after meals with the following reference doses:
For diseases caused by Trichomoniasis: Use Metrothabi a single dose of 2 g, or use 7 days, every day 3 times with a dose of 250mg/time. Women with this disease need to pay attention to treating both their partners. For acute amoebic dysentery caused by E. histolytica: Use Metrothabi alone or preferably in combination with iodoquinol or diloxanide furoate. Treatment of anaerobic bacterial infections: Oral: Use the drug at a dose of 7.5 mg (base)/kg, up to a maximum of 1g, every 6 hours, once every 6 hours, orally for 7 days or longer. Antibiotic-associated colitis: Use the drug with a dose of 500mg (base) for a period of 3-4 times per day. Peptic ulcer disease caused by H pylori: 500 mg (base) 3 times daily. Patients should be combined with bismuth subsalicylate or colloidal bismuth subcitrate and some antibiotics such as penicillin or amoxicillin for 1-2 weeks.
