The drug contains two main ingredients: Amoxicillin in the form of Amoxicillin trihydrate 500mg and Clavulanic acid in the form of Potassium clavulanate and microcrystalline cellulose in a 1:1 ratio, 125mg. The drug is proven effective in the treatment of diseases such as severe infections of the urinary tract - genitals caused by strains of E. coli, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections. This is a broad spectrum antibiotic. With the combination with clavulanic acid in the ingredient list, Amoxicillin will not be destroyed by beta-lactamases. At the same time, this will further expand the antibacterial spectrum of Amoxicillin to become more effective against many bacteria that may be resistant to Amoxicillin, other Penicillins and Cephalosporins.

The two main active ingredients in the drug are easily absorbed through the oral route. Their concentrations peak in serum 1 to 2 hours after dosing. After oral administration, the bioavailability of these two substances is Amoxicillin 90% and Clavulanic Acid 75%, respectively.
The half-life of Amoxicillin in serum is about 1 to 2 hours and that of clavulanic acid is about 1 hour. Approximately 30 - 40% of clavulanic acid and 55 - 70% of Amoxicillin will be excreted in the urine in the unchanged form.

The drug should be taken at the beginning of a meal to reduce gastrointestinal intolerance, only from 14 days back in case of no follow-up.
Suggested dosage for adults and children ≥ 12 years old:
Mild to moderate infections: take 1 tablet every 12 hours; Severe infections: take 1 tablet every 8 hours. For children under 6 years of age and weighing less than 25 kg, the drug should be used in the form of a suspension or a sachet.

Overdose cases are less likely to have complications because the drug is well tolerated even at high doses. However, there is still the possibility that some reactions may occur and manifest as hyperkalemia, since clavulanic acid is administered as the potassium salt. When complications of overdose occur, the doctor may use hemodialysis to remove the drug from the circulatory system.

People who are taking anticoagulants should be careful because Vigentin 500/125 DT can prolong bleeding time and prothrombin; If you are using birth control pills, you need to tell your doctor, because the drug will reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills; Probenecid does not affect the elimination of clavulanic acid but it does prolong the elimination time of Amoxicillin.

Common side effects such as: rash, itching, diarrhea; Uncommon side effects: nausea, vomiting, increased transaminases, hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice, eosinophilia; Rare side effects: Stevens–Johnson syndrome, leukopenia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, Quincke's edema, hemolytic anemia, erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, toxic epidermal necrolysis , interstitial nephritis, pseudomembranous colitis, anaphylactic reactions.
