1. What is Xadago?


Xadago drug has the main ingredient is Safinamide. It can help improve symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, and difficulty moving in Parkinson's disease. Safinamide belongs to a class of drugs known as MAO inhibitors, which work by increasing levels of certain natural substances in the brain, such as dopamine. Because in Parkinson's disease the mechanism causing the symptoms is due to too little dopamine in the brain.

2. Indications and contraindications of Xadago


Indications:
Xadago is used together with other drugs such as Levodopa, Carbidopa to treat episodes of stiffness and loss of muscle control in people with Parkinson's disease. Contraindications:
Do not use Xadago if you are allergic to Safinamide or its ingredients; You have severe liver disease. Some medicines can cause unwanted or dangerous effects, including death, when taken with Xadago. You should not use any of the following other medicines for 14 days before or after you take Xadago: Amphetamine (Adderall, Dexedrine, and others); Cough medicines containing Dextromethorphan ; Cyclobenzaprine; Methylphenidate (Concerta, Ritalin, Daytrana, others); Another type of MAO inhibitor (Isocarboxazid, Linezolid, methylene blue injection, Phenelzine, Rasagiline, Selegiline, Tranylcypromine); Some antidepressants such as Amitriptyline (Elavil), Desipramine (Norpramin), Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq), Duloxetine (Cymbalta), Levomilnacipran (Fetzima), Maprotiline (Ludiomil), Milnaciporran (Savella), Surmofax, Vmipramine (Venazodla), Surmoaxpramine (Viibryd); Opioids such as Meperidine (Demerol), Methadone, Propoxyphene (Darvon), Tramadol (Ultram/Ultracet).

3. How to use and dosage Xadago


Usage:
Safinamide must be used in combination with other drugs such as Levodopa and Carbidopa; Not indicated for use alone. Xadago is taken by mouth and is usually taken once daily at the same time. This medicine may also be taken with or without food. Store the medicine at room temperature away from moisture and high temperature, away from direct light. Usual Adult Dose for Parkinson's Disease:
Starting dose: 50 mg orally once a day. Maintenance dose: After taking the drug for 2 weeks, the dose can be increased to 100mg and taken once a day based on the needs and tolerability of the patient. The maximum daily dose is 100mg. Higher doses administered to patients have not been shown to provide additional benefit while they increase the risk of adverse reactions.

4. Side effects when taking Xadago


Common side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness may occur. If either of these side effects persist or get worse, tell your doctor right away. To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, change your position slowly when getting up, sitting or lying down, especially when you first start taking Safinamide. Some serious side effects may occur, including fainting, loss of balance, mental or mood changes, worsening of muscle stiffness or convulsions, uncontrolled movements, addiction. something powerful (such as increased gambling, increased libido). You need to tell your doctor right away. Some people taking Safinamide have suddenly become drowsy during everyday activities, such as talking on the phone or driving. In some cases, sleep occurs suddenly without any prior feeling of drowsiness. This sleep-inducing effect can occur at any time during treatment with Safinamide even if you have been using this medicine for a long time. This medicine can increase serotonin and rarely cause a very serious condition called serotonin syndrome or serotonin toxicity. Get medical help right away if you have any of these symptoms: fast heartbeat, hallucinations, loss of coordination, severe dizziness, severe nausea/vomiting or diarrhea, seizures muscle, unexplained fever, agitation, unusual restlessness. The drug can rarely cause extremely severe hypertensive crisis (hypertension) and can be fatal. Many drug-food interactions can increase this risk. Get medical help right away if any of these very serious side effects occur such as severe headache, fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, pounding heart, chest pain, stiff or sore neck, sadness severe vomiting and diarrhea, sweating, skin rash (sometimes accompanied by fever), pupil dilation, vision changes, sudden sensitivity to light. A very serious allergic reaction to Xadago is very rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any of these symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching and swelling in the throat/tongue, severe dizziness, shortness of breath.

5. Notes when using Xadago


To make sure Xadago is safe, tell your doctor right away if you have ever had: Liver disease ; high or low blood pressure; bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or psychosis; ever had unusual urges or impulses; abnormal muscle movements; problems with the retina of your eye; narcolepsy or other sleep disorder. It is not known whether Xadago will harm an unborn baby. Before taking, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known whether Xadago passes into breast milk or harms a baby. Therefore, you should not breast-feed while using this medicine. While taking Xadago and for 14 days after stopping it, avoid eating foods that are high in tyramine, including pickled foods, processed, smoked, or fermented meats. Eating foods containing tyramine while taking Safinamide can raise your blood pressure to dangerous levels, causing life-threatening side effects. If you feel more sleepy or drowsy during the day, do not drive or engage in activities that could be dangerous. The risk of this sleep disturbance is increased with the use of alcohol or other drugs that can make you drowsy. Drug Interactions: There are many drugs that can cause interactions and contraindications in combination. Some drugs can cause interactions such as Imatinib; iIrinotecan; Lapatinib; Methotrexate; Metoclopramide ; Mitoxantrone; Rsuvastatin; Sulfasalazine or Topotecan.
