Each Neo Penotran tablet contains:
Metronidazole 500mg Miconazole nitrate 100mg Witepsol S 55 (additives). Neo Penotran is an azole antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of fungi. Neo Penotran is commonly used to treat vaginal candidiasis, anaerobic vaginal infections and Gardnerella vaginalis, Trichomonas vaginalis and mixed vaginal infections.
Notes when using Neo Penotran:
Put one Neo Penotran pill deep into the vagina in the evening for 14 days or put one in the morning and one in the evening for 7 days. In case the disease recurs, or the vaginitis does not respond to other treatments, you should put 1 tablet deep into the vagina in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening for 14 days. Neo Penotran tablets should be inserted deep into the vagina while in the lying position. Neo Penotran should not be administered to virgin women. Do not use Neo Penotran in the following cases:
People with a history of hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients of the drug. During the first 3 months of pregnancy. Cases of porphyria, epilepsy, severe liver dysfunction. After the first 3 months of pregnancy, Neo-Penotran vaginal tablets can be used in cases of need, but should be used under the supervision of a specialist.
Breastfeeding should not be continued during treatment with Neo Penotran, as metronidazole passes into breast milk. After the end of treatment, breastfeeding can be resumed 24 - 48 hours later.
The substrate in the formulation of Neo Penotran suppositories may interact with rubber or plastic products used in vaginal diaphragms to prevent pregnancy. Simultaneous treatment should be given to the same sex partner who is infected with Trichomonas vaginalis.

Neo Penotran can cause some side effects including:
Vaginal irritation Abdominal pain or stomach cramps Metallic taste Constipation, dry mouth, diarrhea Loss of appetite Nausea, vomiting Headache , dizziness, mood swings Skin rash Leukopenia. Neo Penotran drug interactions can be seen when metronidazole is used concurrently with the following drugs:
Alcohol: Alcohol intolerance. Oral Anticoagulants: Increases the effectiveness of anticoagulants. Phenytoin: Phenobarbital reduces blood levels of metronidazole. Disulfiram: Some effects on the central nervous system may occur. Cimetidine: Blood levels of metronidazole and the risk of neurological side effects may be increased. Lithium: Neo Penotran may be shown to increase lithium toxicity. Astemizole and terfenadine: Metronidazole and miconazole in Neo Penotran inhibit the metabolism of these two drugs and increase their plasma concentrations.
