1. Principles of nutrition

Control protein (protein): 1g/kg body weight/day. Protein requirements are lower in cases of renal complications (acute glomerulonephritis, acute renal failure, chronic renal failure). Choose foods that are low in purines. Ensure enough energy: 30-35 kcal/kg body weight/day. Reduced energy requirements in obese patients.
