Heart failure specialist clinic - Vinmec Times City International Hospital

The rapid increase in the rate of patients with heart failure makes it necessary to have a specialized heart failure clinic to provide optimal treatment methods and reduce the burden on patients as well as on the community. The Cardiovascular Center of Vinmec Times City Hospital has built a specialized heart failure clinic which has been organized and put into operation since March 2019. This is one of the few specialized heart failure clinics built early in Vietnam with reference to the models of the US and Singapore, bringing hope of effective treatment for patients with heart failure.

Patients are managed according to a unified medical record form, which is convenient for searching and storing on the principle of information confidentiality. We are building software on smartphones to have close and regular interaction between patients and medical staff such as appointment reminders, medication reminders and instructions, and guidelines on how to handle arising situations, health education.

Examination and diagnosis of patients with heart failure

• Assess the degree of heart failure, make a specific, optimal and appropriate treatment plan for each patient, on the basis of applying updated guidelines from major cardiology organizations in the world such as the Heart Association. European Circuit, Society of Cardiology and American College of Cardiology. For patients with end-stage heart failure, the heart failure specialist clinic will hold consultations to come up with enhanced treatment measures such as resynchronization, ventricular assist devices, and heart transplantation.

Examination and diagnosis of diseases that can lead to heart failure

• Diseases that can lead to heart failure include high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, heart valve disease, diabetes, etc. Make a comprehensive treatment plan for diseases that can lead to heart failure, including optimal medical treatment, combined with lifestyle adjustments, and elimination of possible causes of heart failure by surgery, cardiovascular intervention, arrhythmia intervention.

Raising awareness about heart failure for everyone

• Organize a club for heart failure patients or those who are interested in heart failure, through activities that will provide counseling and health education to improve knowledge about heart failure for everyone, benefits of heart failure prevention, adherence to treatment, and optimism in life.
• In addition to the leading role of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, rehabilitation staff, social workers will also participate in the activities of the heart failure clinic in order for the management, examination and treatment, counseling and guidance activities to be regular, thorough, timely, and most effective.
