According to the “Recommendation on Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypertension 2018” of the Vietnam Hypertension Sub-Association/Vietnam National Society of Cardiology: For all patients, the first goal of treatment is to raise blood pressure. pressure lower than 140/90 mmHg. If treatment is well tolerated, systolic blood pressure should be lowered to less than 130 mmHg (but not below 120 mmHg) for most patients.
There are 2 exceptions: elderly people (≥ 65 years old) and people with chronic kidney disease. In these two groups of subjects, the systolic blood pressure was about 130-139 mmHg. A diastolic blood pressure below 80 mmHg is the recommended treatment goal for all hypertensive patients, regardless of increased cardiovascular risk or comorbidities.
