How long after cholecystectomy can the drain be removed?

Hello doctor!
I had a cholecystectomy 15 years ago and had a Kehr drain in place. The doctor asked me, how long after cholecystectomy can I remove the drain? Looking forward to consulting your doctor help me. Thank you.

Hello!
Kehr drainage is a plastic tube used to drain the main bile duct to the skin! Normally, the minimum time for formation of Kehr tunnel is about 3 weeks, therefore, after surgery about 3 weeks, the drain can be removed with good biliary tract condition.
