You have HBV but it is not clear how long you have had it? If you are newly diagnosed, your doctor advises you not to worry, 6 months after re-testing, you may be free of hepatitis B (because hepatitis B within 6 months may or may not go away on its own). If you get tested again 6 months later and you still have it, you have chronic hepatitis B infection. At that time, your doctor will check your liver enzymes for an increase or not and do some other evaluations, from which the appropriate treatment will be directed.
In case you have been infected with hepatitis B for a long time, with your liver enzyme results and your age, you do not need to be treated with drugs. Just remember to check your liver enzymes every 3-6 months. If liver enzymes are normal at that time, you should have another test 3-6 months later.
