Difference between LDL and VLDL cholesterol

The formation of cholesterol mainly comes from food that is synthesized by the liver from saturated fats. Currently there are several terms related to cholesterol such as LDL cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol. So what are LDL and VLDL cholesterol? and what is the difference between them?

1. What is cholesterol?

Cholesterol is an essential fat for cell membranes. It is made by synthesis of the liver, which is an extremely complex process. Triglycerides are a type of fat used to provide energy to cells. These two substances are extremely necessary for human health.
Cholesterol and triglycerides are transported by lipoproteins. Lipoprotein is a combination of two components protein and fat.
If in lipoproteins, protein accounts for a larger proportion, it is called HDL or good cholesterol. The higher the HDL cholesterol, the better for heart health.
If in lipoprotein, the content of protein is less, there is more fat, then the low-density lipoprotein, the cholesterol it carries is called LDL cholesterol, also known as bad cholesterol.
If the lipoprotein contains mostly triglycerides, the density is very low, it is called VLDL, which carries triglycerides.
VLDL and LDL cholesterol are both types of bad cholesterol. While cholesterol and triglycerides are both needed by the body, too much buildup in your body's arteries can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.

2. Difference between LDl cholesterol and VLDL cholesterol

LDL and VLDL cholesterol are both types of bad cholesterol for the body. The key difference between VLDL and LDL cholesterol is that they have a percentage of the components of cholesterol, proteins, and triglycerides that make up each lipoprotein. VLDL cholesterol is high in triglycerides and LDL cholesterol is high in cholesterol.
VLDL cholesterol is made up of the following components and proportions: cholesterol (10%), triglycerides (70%), protein (10%), other fats (10%). The triglycerides found in VLDL cholesterol are used to carry energy to cells in the body. Eating a lot of foods containing a lot of carbohydrates or sugar in excess leads to an excess of triglycerides, causing high VLDL levels in the blood. Triglycerides are released when the body needs energy.
LDL cholesterol is made up of the following components and proportions: Cholesterol (26%), triglycerides (10%), protein (25%), other fats (15%). Too much cholesterol in the body leads to high levels of LDL cholesterol. High levels of LDL lead to a buildup of plaque in your arteries.
Most to check the level of LDL cholesterol and VLDL cholesterol will usually do a cholesterol test. There is no specific test for VLDL cholesterol, it is estimated based on your triglyceride levels.

3. Who should monitor cholesterol levels

LDL is checked as part of a cholesterol test. According to the American Heart Association, everyone over the age of 20 should have their cholesterol checked every four to six years. If you're at high risk for cardiovascular disease, you'll need to monitor your cholesterol levels more often. High LDL and VLDL both lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke in patients.
Tests to find an estimated VLDL level will be done when you ask for or have the following:
Other factors that increase the risk of cardiovascular disease Abnormal cholesterol Early-onset heart disease. Other factors that increase the risk of cardiovascular disease include:
Older age Weight gain, obesity Patients with diabetes or high blood pressure Family history of cardiovascular disease Smoking Sedentary unhealthy diet strong. Increasing regular exercise and building a healthy diet, lifestyle changes are the way to reduce your VLDL and LDL cholesterol. It is advisable to consult a specialist doctor to get the most appropriate treatment method, to avoid the risk of complications later.
