1. Background
Kidney transplantation in Vietnam has been carried out since 1992. Vinmec Hospital is the first private hospital in Vietnam to perform kidney transplantation. Therefore, we would like to present the initial results of the method of removing a kidney from a living donor for transplantation by hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery at Vinmec hospital in Hanoi.
2. Research method
Prospective study, with kidney donation patients at Vinmec international hospital from April 2017 to June 2018.
3. Results and discussion
From April 2017 to June 2018, we took a kidney from a living donor for transplantation by laparoscopic method with the help of hands. There are 9 donors with the same bloodline as the transplant patient; 20 pairs that are not related by blood. 20 males (68.9%), 9 females (31.1%). Mean age: 34.7 ± 12.68 years old, the youngest is 19 years old, the highest is 62 years old. The donor age is from 20 to 40 years old (20 cases). Average surgery time (from the time of incision to the closing of the last nasal skin): 161 ± 48 minutes. Renal time for hot ischemia: 3.51±1.6 minutes, the shortest 2 minutes, the longest 9 minutes. Remaining kidney function after transplantation: mean urine: 2569 ± 406 ml, mean blood creatinine: 87.7 ± 22.1 mmol /l. Mean hospital stay: 5.52 ± 0.83 days. There were no cases that required conversion to open surgery. No deaths.
4. Conclusion
Manual-assisted laparoscopic nephrectomy for transplantation from a living donor is a safe, aesthetic, low-complicated method, and patients recover quickly after surgery.
