Uses of Blissfast

Blissfast is a vaginal tablet that contains Metronidazole BP, Neomycin Sulphate BP and Nystatin BP. It is used in the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections of the vagina.

1. What is Blissfast?

Each Blissfast vaginal tablet contains: 500mg Metronidazole BP 65,000 IU Neomycin Sulphate BP and 100,000 IU Nystatin BP and other excipients. The uses of each drug component are as follows:
Metronidazol : Has the ability to be toxic to some bacterial species, protozoa cells, leading to the destruction of these cells. This drug is effective on amoeba, Giardia parasites, some anaerobic bacteria,... This ingredient is used in the treatment of many diseases caused by parasites, including vaginitis caused by Corynebacterium. , Haemophilus, Gardnerella, Trichomonas vaginalis,... Metronidazol has no effect on killing viruses, fungi, some anaerobic bacteria and most aerobic bacteria; Neomycin: Has bactericidal effect. This drug belongs to the group of aminoglycoside antibiotics, which inhibits protein biosynthesis through binding to the 30S subunit on the bacterial ribosome. Due to the high toxicity of the drug when used systemic, it is often used topically to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella species, Enterobacter, Neisseria species, ...; Nystatin: Has bacteriostatic or fungicidal effect, does not affect beneficial bacteria in the body. This active ingredient is extracted from Streptomyces noursei, through the mechanism of binding to sterols to cause abnormalities in cell membranes. Nystatin is most sensitive to yeast and Candida species. Therefore, this substance is often used for topical treatment in some cases of candidiasis.

The side effects of Blissfast will be related to each ingredient in the drug. Some side effects of the drug Blissfast include:
Metronidazol: Few side effects due to drugs used in the topical route. Adverse reactions usually appear only with oral administration; Neomycin and Nystatin: May cause local irritation with manifestations such as fever, redness, itching, dermatitis,... Patients may experience Stevens - Johnson syndrome but quite rarely. Patients should inform their doctor about the side effects they experience when using Blissfast for advice on the most appropriate treatment.

6. Be careful when using Blissfast

Some notes patients need to remember before and while taking Blissfast:
Do not take Blissfast tablets. Blissfast should only be used when prescribed by a doctor; If the patient uses Blissfast and experiences a hypersensitivity reaction, the drug should be discontinued and the doctor informed for appropriate management instructions; Patients who are using Blissfast vaginal tablets should not arbitrarily stop treatment when the effect is slow, but need to use it for a full time according to the doctor's prescription. However, if the drug is abused or used for too long, the Neomycin component can cause sensitization and increase the possibility of cross-drug resistance. In case the treatment is not effective, the patient should be re-examined to have a more appropriate treatment direction; The vaginal form of Nystatin can make oral contraceptives ineffective, so it is necessary to use appropriate methods of contraception while taking the drug; It should be noted that the duration of treatment should not be prolonged because of the danger of selecting for resistant strains of bacteria and the risk of superinfection by these bacteria. Cross-allergies to aminoglycoside antibiotics may occur; Blissfast should not be used during menstruation. Patients should also not douche as this can upset the balance of bacteria (unless directed by a doctor); Patients should completely dry the outside of the vaginal area after swimming or bathing. Also, it's a good idea to change out of wet clothes as soon as possible because dry conditions help limit yeast growth; Although absorption of Blissfast through the skin is minimal, it is still recommended not to use Blissfast in pregnant, suspected or breast-feeding women, unless indicated and under the supervision of a physician. doctor; Blissfast should be stored in a cool, dry place because high temperatures will melt and damage the medicine. The tablets can be stored in the refrigerator.

7. Blissfast drug interactions

Blissfast vaginal tablet is a topical drug, so there are few drug interactions with concomitant drugs. The active ingredients in the drug only interact with other drugs if taken orally. However, the simultaneous use of Blissfast suppositories with other topical agents should be avoided to avoid the risk of mutual interactions. At the same time, the patient should also inform the doctor about the drugs he is taking / recently taking so that they can be adjusted accordingly.
When prescribed to use Blissfast, the patient should strictly follow the instructions on how to use and dose the drug. Patients should not change their dose, stop or start taking other medications without their doctor's approval. This ensures a good treatment effect for bacterial infections, vaginal yeast infections and limits unpredictable side effects.
