Uses of Canzeal 2mg

Canzeal 2mg is made in the form of tablets, with the main ingredient being Glimepiride. The drug is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes if the measures of diet, weight loss, exercise, ... have not obtained satisfactory results.

1. Uses of Canzeal 2mg

Canzeal 2mg medicine has the main ingredient Glimepiride 2mg. Glimepiride is an oral antidiabetic drug belonging to the sulphonylurea group. It is used to treat non-insulin dependent diabetes (type 2 diabetes). The primary action of Glimepiride is to stimulate the release of insulin from the beta cells of the pancreas. As with other sulphonylureas, this effect is due to an increased response of pancreatic beta cells to physiological glucose stimulation. In addition, Glimepiride has extrapancreatic effects.
Indications for using Canzeal 2mg:
Treatment of type 2 diabetes when other measures such as diet, weight loss, exercise, etc. do not achieve the desired results. Contraindications to using Canzeal 2mg:
Patients with hypersensitivity to Glimepiride, sulphonamides, sulphonylurea or other excipients; People with insulin dependent diabetes; Diabetic coma patient; People with diabetic keto-acidosis; Patients with severe liver or kidney dysfunction.

2. Dosage and administration of Canzeal 2mg

Usage: Orally. Patients should take the drug before or right in the morning, swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of water. Patients should be under close medical supervision when taking the combination drug.
Dosage:
Starting dose: 1mg Glimepiride per day. If good results are achieved, this dose can be maintained. If not effective, increase dose at 1-2 week intervals up to 2mg, 3mg or 4mg Glimepiride daily. Doses above 4mg/day are only effective in a few cases. The maximum dose is 6mg/day; If the patient is taking the maximum dose of metformin but still does not respond, it can be used in combination with Glimepiride. During metformin maintenance, glimepiride should be added at a low starting dose, titrated based on response; Close monitoring is recommended if combination drugs are used. If the patient is still not responding to the maximum daily dose of Glimepiride, it can also be combined with insulin. During maintenance dosing of Glimepiride, add insulin at a low starting dose, titrating based on response; If the patient has a hypoglycemic reaction when using 1mg Glimepiride/day, this indicates that the patient can control blood sugar with diet alone. To avoid hypoglycemia, the possibility of dose reduction or discontinuation should be considered. In addition, the dose of the drug may be changed if there are changes in the patient's lifestyle, weight or other factors. Overdose: After taking Canzeal 2mg, patients may experience hypoglycaemia due to overdose, lasting from 12 to 72 hours, which may recur after initial recovery. Overdose symptoms may appear 24 hours after taking the drug. Symptoms commonly include nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, tremors, restlessness, visual disturbances, impaired coordination, coma, convulsions, and somnolence.
To manage overdose, it is necessary to first prevent absorption of the drug by inducing vomiting, then drink lemon juice with activated charcoal and sodium sulphate. In the event of an overdose with a large amount of the drug, gastric lavage may be necessary after administration of activated charcoal and sodium sulphate. In severe cases, patients are hospitalized and monitored closely. Glucose should be administered as soon as possible. If necessary, 50ml of 50% solution can be given intravenously and then 10% solution infusion, close medical monitoring. Next, treat the symptoms.
With hypoglycaemia due to accidental administration of Glimepiride in children and neonates, glucose should be administered with caution to avoid hyperglycaemia and blood glucose levels should be closely monitored.
Missed dose: If you miss a dose of Canzeal 2mg, the patient should take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the scheduled time. Because Canzeal 2mg brand-name drug is used only when needed and not on schedule, missed doses are almost non-existent.
