2. How to use the drug Kaztexim


2.1. How to take Kaztexim Kaztexim is taken orally, should be taken after meals. Take Kaztexim tablets whole with filtered or boiled water, do not break or crush the tablet, or mix it with any solution or mixture. Use Kaztexim exactly as prescribed by your doctor, do not take more than the prescribed dose, it may increase side effects or less, leading to insufficient Kaztexim blood levels to take advantage of the full effect. 2.2. Dosage of the drug Kaztexim Adults:
Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, including pharyngitis and tonsillitis: 100 mg (1 single tablet) every 12 hours continuously for 10 days. Community-acquired acute pneumonia: 200 mg every 12 hours for 14 days. Acute gonococcal infection without complications: single oral dose of 200 mg. Handling missed dose:
To achieve the anti-infective effect, try not to forget the medicine, if you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Especially with indications for taking multiple times a day, the interval between 2 doses should be at least 12 hours apart. The time between two doses should be strictly observed and the time for the next dose must be taken from the time you took the missed dose. If it is almost time for the next dose of Kaztexim, do not take the missed dose and wait until the scheduled time for the next dose. Never take a double dose of Kaztexim to make up for the missed dose. Treatment of Overdose: Cases of overdose with cefpodoxime proxetil have not been reported. Symptoms of drug overdose can cause epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. In the event of a severe toxic reaction resulting from an overdose of Kaztexim, hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis may help remove the drug from the body, especially if renal function is impaired.

5. Kaztexim drug interactions


Antacids: Concomitant administration of Kaztexim with high doses of antacids (sodium bicarbonate and aluminum hydroxide) or H2 blockers reduces peak plasma concentrations. Oral anticholinergics (eg, propantheline) slow peak plasma concentrations, but do not affect the extent of absorption (AUC).
Probenecid: As with other beta-lactam antibiotics, renal excretion of Kaztexim was inhibited by probenecid and resulted in an increase in AUC of approximately 31% and peak plasma concentrations of cefpodoxime by 20%.
Nephrotoxic drugs: Although nephrotoxicity has not been observed with cefpodoxime proxetil alone, renal function should be closely monitored when cefpodoxime proxetil is co-administered with potentially nephrotoxic compounds.

6. How to store Kaztexim


The shelf life of Kaztexim is 36 months from the date of manufacture.
