Uses of Labapraz

Labapraz is an inhibitor of gastric acid secretion and proton pump inhibitor, the main active ingredient is Lansoprazole in the form of slow-release capsules. Labapraz is effective in the treatment of acute gastric - duodenal ulcers and some other diseases.

1. What are the uses of Labapraz?

Labapraz is a gastrointestinal drug with the main ingredient being Lansoprazole 15mg or 30mg depending on the type of preparation. Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that works and uses similar to Omeprazole, it can help prevent gastric acid secretion. This active ingredient works by reducing acid secretion in the stomach, thereby reducing symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing and persistent cough caused by acid reflux or peptic ulcers.
With that way of working, Labapraz is often prescribed by doctors for adults and children in the following cases:
Acute treatment and maintenance of erosive esophagitis in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease - esophagus (treatment for 8 weeks). Treatment of acute gastric and duodenal ulcers (due to infection or non-infection with H. pylori). Treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal ulcers caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Treatment of pathological acidosis, eg Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, polyendocrine tumor or systemic mastocytosis.

2. Instructions on how to take Labapraz

How to use: Use the drug with a sufficient amount of water. Lansoprazole in the drug is not stable in the acidic environment (gastric juice), so it is necessary to take Labapraz before eating and not to break or chew the tablet.
Dosage:
Erosive esophagitis (in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease): Short-term symptomatic treatment for all cases of esophagitis: Adult dose 15 - 30mg/time /day x 1 - 2 months. It can be used for another 2 months if the symptoms are not resolved. Maintenance treatment after curing ulcerative esophagitis to avoid recurrence: Adult dose 15mg/day. Maintenance treatment for a maximum of 1 year. Stomach ulcer: Use 15-30mg/time/day x 1-2 months. Recommended to drink before breakfast. Duodenal ulcer: Use 15mg / time / day x 2 months or until the disease is cured. Use in combination with Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin in the treatment of H. pylori infection in patients with duodenal ulcer: The detailed dosage combination consults with the doctor. Other acidosis (such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome): The usual adult dose is 60 mg once daily. The medicine should be taken before breakfast. Thereafter, the dose should be adjusted according to tolerability and to the extent necessary to sufficiently suppress gastric acid secretion and maintain treatment until the desired clinical outcome is achieved. In patients with severe hepatic impairment, the dose should be reduced, usually up to a maximum of 30 mg/day. Gastrointestinal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): Treatment of ulcers but still taking NSAIDs: Adults take 30mg/day x 2 months. Prevention of stomach ulcers caused by taking NSAIDs in patients with a history of ulcers: Adults use a dose of 15mg / time / day x 3 months. Less effective than treatment with Misoprostol. Gastro-esophageal reflux: Children from 1 to 11 years old and weighing < 30kg: Use dose 15mg/time/day x 3 months; With weight > 30kg: Use dose 30mg/time/day x 3 months; For children from 12 to 17 years old, the usual dose when there is no ulcer: 15mg/day x 2 months, and if ulcer is present: 30mg/day x 2 months.
