Uses of Minopecia

Minopecia belongs to the group of drugs used to treat parasites, infections, viruses and fungi. The drug is prepared in the form of powder for oral suspension, packing specifications: Box of 10 packs x 3 grams. Let's refer to some information about Minopecia that will help you know how to use the drug most appropriate.

1. What does Minopecia do?

Minopecia medicine contains the main ingredient is Cefpodoxime 50mg (in the form of Cefpodoxime proxetil). The antibacterial action of Cefpodoxime is through inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by acylation of membrane-bound transpeptidase enzymes. By this mechanism, Cefpodoxime prevents the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains essential for bacterial cell wall strength and durability.
Cefpodoxime is active against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, stable to β-lactamases. The antibacterial spectrum of Cefpodoxime includes Staphylococcus aureus (except for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococci), Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptoccocus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus spp. other (Group C, G, F). Cefpodoxime-susceptible Gram-negative bacteria include H. influenzae and non-β-lactamase producing strains, Moraxella catarrhalis, Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria gonorrhoea, E. coli, H. para-influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Providencia rettgeri, Proteus vulgaris and Citrobacter diversus. Cefpodoxime is also effective against Peptostreptococcus spp.
After oral administration, Cefpodoxime is rapidly absorbed and hydrolyzed. Cefpodoxime enters the bloodstream and after a dose of 100 mg, mean peak plasma concentrations of 1.4 mg/ml are reached in about 2 hours. When Cefpodoxime is taken with food, the extent of absorption and mean peak plasma concentrations are increased, binding to plasma proteins is about 29%. The plasma half-life of Cefpodoxime is approximately 2.8 hours.

2. Indications for use of Minopecia

Minopecia is indicated in the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, which are:
Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections: Community-acquired pneumonia caused by strains of S. pneumoniae or H. influenzae (including β-lactamase-producing strains) causes; Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis caused by strains of S.pneumoniae, M. catarrhais, H.influenzae (including only strains that do not produce β-lactamase). Upper respiratory tract infections: Acute maxillary sinusitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae (including β-lactamase producing strains), Moraxella catarrhalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae. Acute otitis media caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Moraxella (Branhamella) catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae (including β-lactamase-producing strains). Pharyngitis, tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. Treatment of sexually transmitted diseases: Acute uncomplicated cervical and urethral gonorrhea caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (including penicillinase-producing strains). Acute anorectal infection with Neisseria gonorrhoeae (including penicillinase-producing strains) in uncomplicated female subjects. Skin and Skin Structure Infections: Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillinase-producing strains) or Streptococcus pyogenes. Urinary tract infections: Uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae or Staphylococcus saprophyticus. Prior to treatment with Minopecia, appropriate bacteriological tests should be performed to isolate and determine the causative organism and their susceptibility to cefpodoxime. Once accurate test results are available, antibiotic therapy should be tailored to the patient's condition.

3. Dosage, how to use Minopecia

How to take Minopecia:
It is recommended to take the drug with food to increase the absorption of Minopecia. Dosage of Minopecia for adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older:

Treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections: 200mg/100mg every 12 hours for 7 days. Dosage of Minopecia in Renal Impairment: In patients with severe renal impairment, creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min, the dosing interval should be increased to 24 hours. For patients on hemodialysis, the Minopecia dosing interval is 3 times/week, taken after dialysis. Minopecia Dose for Cirrhotic Patients: No dose adjustment of Minopecia is required for these patients. Minopecia dose for children and pediatric patients from 2 months to under 12 years old:
