1. Uses of the drug Nicoziral


Nicoziral is a drug prepared in the form of a cream, packaged in a box of 1 tube of 5g. Each 5g tube contains 100mg of Ketoconazole.
Ketoconazole is an imidazole derivative, with strong antifungal activity against dermatophytes such as Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum, Trichophyton and yeasts (Candida, pityrosporum, Cryptococcus, Torulopsis,)... Ketoconazole less susceptible to strains of Aspergillus, Sporothrix schenckii, some Dematiaceae, strains of Mucor and other phycomycetes except Entomophthorales. Especially the outstanding effect on the fungus Pityrosporum.
Nicoziral drug is indicated in the following cases:
Treatment of fungal skin diseases: inguinal fungus, hand fungus, foot fungus, body fungus (strabismus, ringworm), skin candidiasis and tinea versicolor. Treatment of seborrheic dermatitis – a pathology associated with the presence of the fungus Pityrosporum ovale. On the other hand, Nicoziral should not be used in patients with acute or chronic liver disease or patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of Nicoziral. Never put Nicoziral in your eyes.

2. How to use the drug Nicoziral


Apply Nicoziral to the infected skin and surrounding skin, 1-2 times a day. The duration of treatment with Nicoziral is usually from 2 to 4 weeks, in severe cases it can last up to 6 weeks.
Nicoziral treatment should be used for a long time, at least until a few days after all symptoms of the disease disappear. Monitor general hygiene practices to check for sources of contamination or reinfection.
Applying too much medication to one area of ​​the skin can cause erythema, edema, and a burning sensation. These symptoms will disappear when the patient stops applying the drug.

3. Unwanted side effects


Nicoziral has some of the side effects mentioned above, but in the form of a regular topical cream, there will be less serious side effects. Occasionally patients using the drug have a burning sensation or skin irritation, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

4. Notes when using drugs


Pregnant or lactating women can use Nicoziral as directed by a doctor. Do not take the following drugs with ketoconazole: terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride, triazolam, oral midazolam, quinidine, pimozide, CYP3A4 metabolised HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors such as simvastatin and lovastatin.
