Uses of Phitrenone

Phitrenone belongs to the group of dermatological topical ointments with the main ingredient being mupirocin, commonly used to treat purulent dermatitis, impetigo, burns or infections after skin surgery.

1. What are the effects of Phitrenone?

Phitrenone drug with main ingredient mupirocin is an antibiotic extracted from pseudomonas fluorescen which has bactericidal effect against streptococcus and staphylococcus which are resistant to metionin. In humans, mupirocin is able to penetrate intact skin, but the rate of systemic absorption is very low, all absorbed components are rapidly converted to inactive monic acid and rapidly excreted by the kidneys. Mupirocin has a local antibacterial effect, strong activity against most bacteria causing skin infections such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, gram-negative bacteria (E.coli, Haemophilus influenzae). Therefore, the drug Phitrenone is applied to treat the following diseases:
Purulent dermatitis, impetigo, infected open wounds, boils. Infectious dermatitis. Burns, cellulitis, oozing venous ulcers. Prophylaxis of infection after skin surgery. Phitrenone is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or ointments containing polyethylene glycol.

2. Dosage of the drug Phitrenone

Phitrenone is available in the form of a topical cream. Usually, the patient will apply a small amount of the drug to the affected area 3 times a day for 10 days. The affected area can then be covered with a bandage if necessary. If the patient does not respond to treatment after 3 to 5 days, re-evaluation is required.

3. Phitrenone side effects

In some patients when using Phitrenone, they may experience side effects such as:
Burning, stinging sensation in the skin where the medicine is applied. Itching, red rash, dry or sensitive skin, easy swelling. However, the drug Phitrenone is quite benign to the skin when only less than 1% of users experience side effects when applying this drug.

4. Be careful when using Phintrenol

Some general notes when using Phitrenone include:
Do not use Phitrenone topical in open wounds. Avoid getting Phitrenone in your eyes. When using Phitrenone for a long time, there is a risk of causing an overgrowth of microorganisms that are not sensitive to the drug. After using Phitrenone, it is necessary to close the box, store the medicine in a cool dry place with a temperature below 30 degrees Celsius. The shelf life of the drug is 24 months from the date of manufacture. Keep Phitrenone out of the reach of children and away from pets.
