Soditax medicine contains the active ingredient Cefotaxime, which is prepared in the form of a powder for intramuscular or intravenous injection. Cefotaxime is a 3rd generation Cephalosporin antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. The antibacterial spectrum of Cefotaxime includes gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, the drug is quite stable with the enzyme Beta - lactamase.
Soditax is indicated in patients with severe infections caused by pathogens sensitive to Cefotaxime as follows:
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections; Urinary tract infections ; Endocarditis due to bacterial infection, bacteremia, meningitis; Bone, skin and soft tissue infections, abdominal infections (gastrointestinal tract infections, peritonitis, bile duct infections); Gonorrhea, infection of the genital organs; Prophylaxis and treatment of infections in patients with reduced resistance.

Dosage of Soditax is prescribed by the treating doctor based on the age and condition of the patient. Some recommendations on the dose of Soditax are as follows:
Adults and children over 12 years old:
Treatment of uncomplicated infections use 1g/time, repeat the injection dose after 12 hours, up to a maximum of 2g/ days of intramuscular or intravenous administration; Treatment of moderate to severe infections using a dose of 1 - 2g / time, repeat the dose after 8 hours, up to a maximum of 3 - 6g / day by intramuscular or intravenous injection; Treatment of infections requires high-dose antibiotics such as sepsis, using a dose of 2g/time, repeating the dose after 6-8 hours, up to a maximum of 6-8g/day intravenously; Treatment of life-threatening infections using a dose of 2g/time, repeat the dose after 4 hours, up to a maximum of 12g/day intravenously; Treatment of gonorrhea using a single dose of 1g intramuscularly. Before treatment, the patient should be tested for syphilis. Infants and children under 12 years of age: Depending on the severity of the infection, the recommended dose of Soditax is 50-100 mg/kg body weight/day divided into 2-4 doses intravenously. Doses higher than 150-200 mg/kg body weight/day are used in life-threatening infections. For premature infants, do not exceed 50mg/kg body weight/day.
Patients with renal impairment: The dose of Soditax should be reduced in patients with renal impairment. It is recommended to reduce the dose by 2 in patients with creatinine clearance less than 10ml/min, up to a maximum of 2g/day.

Soditax medicine can cause some unwanted effects as follows:
Rarely occurs anaphylaxis; Hypersensitivity: Pruritus, urticaria, fever; Hematologic: Hemolytic anemia, agranulocytosis, anemia, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis may occur; Renal: Interstitial nephritis, impaired renal function, acute renal failure rarely occur; Liver: Jaundice, sometimes increased GOT, GPT, LDH, ALP; Gastrointestinal: Symptoms of pseudo-conjunctivitis may occur during or after antibiotic treatment, colitis, diarrhea, nausea; Respiratory: Interstitial pneumonia causing cough, dyspnea, fever, eosinophilia, PIE syndrome; Vitamin deficiency: Rarely vitamin K deficiency, vitamin B deficiency with anorexia, neuritis, stomatitis, glossitis; Other undesirable reactions: Headache, shortness of breath, body fatigue, pathology due to Candida superinfection, visual disturbances, joint contractures of hands and feet. Patients need to inform the treating doctor when experiencing side effects caused by Soditax.

Contraindicated to use Soditax in patients with hypersensitivity to Cefotaxime, Cephalosporin antibiotics or any of its ingredients.
Some notes when using Soditax as follows:
Before being treated with Soditax, patients should be carefully exploited the risk of previous hypersensitivity reactions to Cefotaxime, Cephalosporin antibiotics or Penicillin. If there are symptoms of allergy, stop using the drug; Pseudomembranous colitis has been reported during treatment with Cephalosporins, so physicians should consider this diagnosis in patients with diarrhea during antibiotic therapy; Serum concentrations may be elevated and prolonged with usual dosing in patients with renal impairment with transient or persistent oliguria. Therefore, a dose reduction of Soditax should be considered in these patients; Soditax solution should be used immediately after reconstitution, otherwise the drug should be used within 24 hours of reconstitution if stored at 2-8oC in the refrigerator or within 8 hours if stored at room temperature; For pregnant women: Safety when using Soditax in pregnant women has not been established, so it is recommended to use the drug in pregnant women only when clearly needed; For lactating women: Cefotaxime is excreted in breast milk in low concentrations, so caution should be exercised when using the drug in lactating women.

Concomitant use of Aminoglycoside antibiotics and Cefotaxime increases nephrotoxicity. The concentration and duration of action of Cefotaxime are increased when used concurrently with Probenecid. Soditax medicine can lead to false positive reactions for urine glucose when using reagents such as Benedic, Clinitest, Fehling solutions...
