Uses of the drug Lesaxys

Lesaxys is the preferred drug group indicated for the treatment of helminths with active ingredients Triclabendazole, especially trematodes caused by Fasciola hepatica or Fasciola gigantica. So what is Lesaxys and how should it be used?

1. What are the uses of Lesaxys 250mg?

1.1. What is Lesaxys 250mg? Lesaxys belongs to the group of anthelmintics. Lesaxys drug includes the following ingredients:
Main ingredients: Triclabendazol 250mg Excipients: Lactose monohydrate, Sunset yellow color, Erythrosin color, Microcrystalline cellulose, Sodium starch glycolate, Povidon, Tween 80, Silicon dioxide, stearic acid. .. The drug is prepared in the form of tablets of 250mg, blisters of 7 tablets, boxes of 1 blister.
Lesaxys is recommended for use in children 6 years of age and older and adults.
1.2. What does Lesaxys do? Triclabendazole is a derivative of benzimidazole. Triclabendazol is characterized by specific activity against very early immature trematodes. Triclabendazol activity has also been demonstrated in lung fluke infections caused by Paragonimus uterobilateralis in rats and by P. uterobi lateralis, P. africanus, P. mexicanus and P. westermani in humans.
Lesaxys is prescribed by a doctor to be used in the following cases:
Fascioliasis ("sheep's liver fluke") caused by Fasciola hepatica or Fasciola gigantica Paragonimus disease (also known as "lung fluke disease") , “hematopoietic plague”, or “Eastern fluke disease”) caused by strains of Paragonimus westermani or other strains of Paragonimus.

2. Usage of Lesaxys

2.1. How to use Lesaxys Drugs Lesaxys are made in the form of tablets that are easy to use orally, the drug has bricks, so it is easy to divide the dose. Tablets can be swallowed whole or chewed and swallowed with water. Taking Lesaxys after a fatty meal will increase the absorption and potency of the drug. 2.2. Dosage of Lesaxys The dose of Lesaxys should be adjusted according to the patient's weight. Tablets are bricked and easily broken into two equal halves for accurate dosing, the dose should be rounded up (e.g. A 40 kg patient would take 2 tablets of 500 mg = 12.5 mg/kg instead of 10 mg/kg)
Dosage for adults: 10 mg/kg body weight for a single dose. In case of no response to treatment with a dose of 10 mg/kg body weight, the dose can be increased to 20 mg/kg body weight in 2 divided doses 12-24 hours apart. Treatment with antispasmodics reduces pain and reduces the risk of jaundice.
Dosage in children 6 years of age and older: Although clinical data are limited in this age group, there is no evidence of differences between adults and children in efficacy or safety. Dosage and duration of treatment should be the same as for adults. Because there can be a significant disproportion between the size of the parasite and the biliary tract in children, concomitant treatment with antispasmodics should be routinely considered.
Children under 6 years: There is no experience with triclabendazole in this age group.
Elderly Patients: There is no information on the relationship between age and the effects of triclabendazole in elderly patients.
Patients with renal impairment: As no studies have been performed in patients with renal impairment, use in this patient population is not recommended.
Handling missed dose Take the medicine as soon as you remember. However, if the interval between the next dose is too short, skip the missed dose and resume the dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Treatment of overdose If adverse reactions occur when taking the drug, immediately go to the nearest medical facility or call 911 immediately.
