Uses of the drug Zenzedi


Zenzedi is a prescription medication used to treat narcolepsy. In addition, the drug is also indicated as a treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in pediatric patients 3-16 years of age.

1. What is Zenzedi? Instructions for use

The main ingredient of Zenzedi is Dextroamphetamine, a central nervous system stimulant. The drug affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. As a result, Zenzedi is indicated for the treatment of narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Zenzedi is taken with or without food, usually 1-3 times a day. The first dose should be taken upon awakening in the morning. If your doctor prescribes more doses, take the medicine as directed by your doctor, usually 4-6 hours apart.
Note:
Taking Zenzedi at the end of the day can cause trouble sleeping (insomnia); Swallow the pill whole. Do not crush, chew, break or open the tablet; For liquid Zenzedi, a specialized measuring device should be used to get the right amount of medicine; Avoid drinking fruit juices or taking vitamin C while taking Zenzedi. These products may cause the body to absorb less of the drug; Do not give the medicine to children under 3 years old (for extended-release capsules, not for children under 6 years old).

2. Side effects of the drug Zenzedi


In some cases, Zenzedi can cause common side effects such as:
Heart palpitations; Trembling; Sleep problems (Difficulty sleeping, insomnia); Stomach pain; Dry mouth, decreased appetite; Dizziness headache; Weight loss. Other possible serious side effects of Zenzedi include
Increased blood pressure and heart rate (irregular heartbeat); Chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting; Seizures, muscle convulsions; Stroke, heart attack (even sudden death) in people with heart problems or heart defects; Psychiatric problems (worsening altered thinking, behavior; new or more severe bipolar illness); Aggressive behaviors or psychotic symptoms may occur in children and adolescents. For example: vision changes (blurred vision), hallucinations, hearing voices, believing things that are not true, suspicion, hostility, paranoia...; Abnormal circulation in fingers or toes (Feeling of numbness, coolness, pain, color change (pale, red or blue) in fingers or toes); Effects on children's development (retardation in height and weight).

3. Important note when taking Zenzedi


Do not use Zenzedi for adults and children with the following problems:
Have a history of advanced heart disease or hardening of the arteries, coronary artery disease; Have moderate to severe high blood pressure; Overactive thyroid gland (Hyperthyroidism); Increased intraocular pressure ; Easily anxious, nervous or agitated; Have a history of drug abuse; Are taking or have taken an MAO inhibitor antidepressant (Isocarboxazid, Linezolid, Methylene Blue, Phenelzine, Rasagiline, Selegiline, Tranylcypromine...) within the past 14 days; Sensitivity, allergy or reaction to other stimulant medications. To make sure Zenzedi is right for you and safe for you, tell your doctor if you or anyone in your family has ever had:
Depression, mental illness, bipolar disorder, psychosis , ever had suicidal thoughts or actions; Muscular dyskinesia or Tourette's syndrome; Seizures or epilepsy; Have abnormal brain wave (EEG) test results; Have problems with blood circulation in your hands or feet. Taking Zenzedi during pregnancy may lead to premature birth, low birth weight, or withdrawal symptoms in the newborn. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Dextroamphetamine in Zenzedi can pass into breast milk and could harm a nursing baby. The mother should not breast-feed while using this medicine.

4. Interactions of the drug Zenzedi


Some medications can interact with Zenzedi and cause a serious condition called serotonin syndrome. Tell your doctor all the medicines you have, are taking and plan to take, especially:
Antacids; Opioids; Antidepressants, antipsychotics; Blood pressure medication; Anticonvulsants; Migraine medication; Medicines to treat serious infections.
