Uses of Tocimat 60

H1-antihistamines are widely used in allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis or chronic idiopathic urticaria. The most common of which is the active ingredient Fexofenadin found in various commercial products, including Tocimat 60. So how does Tocimat 60 work?

1. What is Tocimat 60?

Tocimat 60 has the following active ingredients:
The active ingredient is Fexofenadin HCl 60 mg; Excipients such as Microcrystalline Cellulose, Croscarmellose sodium, Pregelatinized Starch, PVP K30, Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Sodium Stearyl Fumarate, Sodium Starch Glycolate, Crospovidone, HPMC, Talc powder, Titanium dioxide, PEG 4000, red iron oxide... Tocimat 60 is prepared in the form of film-coated tablets, packed in each box of 5 blisters x 10 tablets and is manufactured by Binh Dinh Pharmaceutical-Medical Supplies Joint Stock Company.
Tocimat 60 film-coated tablets have identifiable characteristics including oval shape, pink-orange color, edges and a healthy, unbroken member.

2. Indications and contraindications of Tocimat 60

Tocimat 60 is indicated for use in the following cases:
Symptomatic treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis; Treatment of allergic urticaria and chronic idiopathic urticaria. The product Tocimat 60 is contraindicated for use in people with a history or prior history of hypersensitivity to Fexofenadin or any of the excipients contained in the drug.

3. Dosage of Tocimat 60

Dosage of Tocimat 60 in the symptomatic treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis:
Adults and children over 12 years of age: Start with 1 Tocimat 60 x 2 tablets daily or 2 Tocimat 60 tablets taken once a day. ; Patients with renal impairment: Start with a dose of 1 Tocimat 60 tablet, once a day; Children 6-11 years old: 1⁄2 Tocimat 60 x 2 tablets per day; Children with kidney failure only take 1⁄2 Tocimat 60 x 1 tablet once a day. Dosage of Tocimat 60 for chronic idiopathic urticaria is similar.

4. Side effects of Tocimat 60

The frequency of Tocimat 60 adverse events, including somnolence, was independent of dose and did not differ between sex, age and race.
Common side effects of Tocimat 60, including:
Viral infections such as colds and flu (2.5%); Nausea (1.6%); Dysmenorrhea (1.5%); Drowsiness (1.3%); Indigestion (1.3%); Fatigue (1.3%).

5. Drug interactions of Tocimat 60

Fexofenadine in Tocimat 60 is not metabolised in the liver, so there is no interaction with drugs metabolized by the liver.
Use of Tocimat 60 with the antibiotic Erythromycin or the antifungal Ketoconazole can lead to a 2-3-fold increase in Fexofenadine plasma concentrations. However, this increase in drug concentrations did not affect the QT interval, and no additional adverse reactions were observed when compared with the use of these drugs alone.
Concomitant use of Tocimat 60 with gastric antacids containing aluminum or magnesium gels may decrease the bioavailability of fexofenadine hydrochloride.

6. Some cautions when using Tocimat 60

Tocimat 60 needs special caution when used in the elderly, impaired liver or kidney function.
Patients with a history of cardiovascular disease should be warned that antihistamines, including Tocimat 60, may be associated with adverse reactions, increased heart rate and palpitations.
